Argus Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 And to repeat, they aren't as bad as the Liberals, not by a long shot. Give them time, it took the Libs awhile to figure out how to scam. Their entire first campaign was a scam based on people's ignorance about the helicopter project. Their first bill was a giant pork bill with hundreds of millions diverted to canoe museums and golf courses. This is the problem. You are saying that the CPC is not as bad. Perhaps not. But that is immaterial to the discussion. Perhaps not? If they're "perhaps not as bad" then why do we read your anguished cries for a return to the good old Liberal days of five fingered theft? CPC campaigned on being better, more open, more honest. So far they are. Oh they aren't as open as I'd like, and because of their minority situation they haven't been able to empower MPs like I would wish. But I give them credit for what they have done, and take into account the obstructionism of the Liberals in a minority parliament. You really need to follow along closer and not input others thoughts into replies to me. This is the third time it has happened. You ignored the first two when brought up. My "anguished cries" ? Yea , that would NOT be me. Read more, you will find out. Quote

Argus Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 The Liberals "stole" about 10% of $250 million at most. No, sorry, but that's just so much bullshit. The entire program was a cover for them to reward political contributers. The entire cost of the program was stolen from us. And it was one of many such programs. Whether it was buying overpriced goods and services, soliciting unneeded research, or inventing unnecessary jobs to employ their friends, the Liberals siphoned off _billions_ of dollars. but they did bail our country out of near bankruptcy in 1993. And how did they do that? By allowing the GST Mulroney had put in place to stay there, despite all their promises to the contrary? And letting the improving American economy pump billions into government coffers? Oh no, maybe it was that multi-billion dollar infrastructure plan that built us canoe museums and golf courses! Simply cutting off the oil sands tax-breaks would save the country 1000X what the Liberals "stole". I think you Liberals need to consider tax breaks that actually cause an improvement in economic climate or industry - and which thereby benefit the country --- and tax breaks which only benefit your friends and your own personal investments. Such as that long cursed tax break for the bahamas that the AG kept demanding be closed and which Paul Martin kept open because his company was making money from it. There IS a difference.
