scribblet Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 This is another example of breathtaking hypocrisy and double standards, similar to that of the Liberals complaining about patronage and stacking the courts, then it is spread around the internet as if - gasp - meine gotte - we (Liberals) never did such things http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/stor...?hub=TopStories Liberal MPs accused the Conservatives Friday of trying to obliterate Liberals from Canada's history, capping off a week of intense partisan sniping between Liberals and Conservatives. At the end of the week, Liberals accused the Conservatives of deliberately hiding a display honouring Lester Pearson and the Nobel Peace Prize he won in 1957........and But CTV News has learned that the Pearson display was routinely hidden by backdrops set up for the press conferences of Liberal ministers during the governments of Paul Martin and Jean Chretien. That fact, though, did not deter Liberals from attacking the Conservatives." lets not let facts get in the way hoisted on their own petard--again. geoffrey Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 Hiding Pearson?!?!? What the hell?? If all the Liberals have going for them in the last 50 years in Pearson, I can understand their dismay. I don't think the CPC has ever accused the Liberals of stomping on the history of Diefenbaker. stignasty Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 This is another example of breathtaking hypocrisy and double standards, similar to that of the Liberals complaining about patronage and stacking the courts . . . I assume that you're just as outraged by the Conservative Doublespeak that criticized the Liberals from the opposition side, but now in power do the same thing? madmax Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 I have no idea why the media buys into these stories created spin doctors and the counter spins and hyped up outrage of both parties. This is what puts alot of people off. That others in politics and on these forums would figure that something as inane as this, is a topic of extreme importance. I hope these children grow up soon. Especially since what Pearson negotiated for the 1957 Nobel Prize was a craven capitulation by Western interests to Nasser. jbg Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 Especially since what Pearson negotiated for the 1957 Nobel Prize was a craven capitulation by Western interests to Nasser. How so? For one, the Egyptians had the right to ask the UN observers to leave, which they did when they felt good and ready to attack Israel. For another, it ratified the theft of the Suez Canal from those who built and paid for it. Frankly, most treaties between the West and other interests wind up being all give and no take.
