And Canadians complain that criminals get off easy in Canada.

8 years for murder,to be served in the comfy confines of a military base?

Once again the Americans show what they really think of the Iraqi people

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CAMP PENDLETON, California (CNN) -- A U.S. Marine will serve no more than eight years in prison in connection with the killing of an Iraqi civilian, a Marine Corps spokesman said Saturday.
Pennington agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy to commit premeditated murder and kidnapping, and to a kidnapping charge. Other charges he faced were dismissed at sentencing.
But still,Canadian soldiers,who already have a bad reputation should take notice that American soldiers,after LIEING about why they killed civillians,are being found out as the liars they are and are being charged
Judicial procees was carried out and sentences passed.
You obviously are a better judge and jury.
Yea I sure am.This guy along with his pals dragged this older man out of his house then murdered him.
The soldiers lied about how the man was killed.
And he gets 8 years to be served on the base.
Like I said.And people say criminals get off easy here in Canada
Perhaps you should apply for a seat on the judge advocate generals team - you seem to have all the answers. I am sure they would value you and your expertise.
Well obviously you are just echoing what all right wingers say.
"He was just an Iraqi,had brown skin,probobly a terrorist,no big loss'
If you are talking to me - then please address me.
Would you kindly point out how I have "echoed" others - and how you know what I think of someone from the country of Iraq?
We already know my opinion of you - but then again I am among the many in that regard.
How do you know what side of centre my political beliefs actually lie.
You assume far too much and certainly do not deserve the respect you deem required.
I asked you this once before and you did not answer - in fact you dodged it rather poorly - so I will ask again:
Is there anything out there that you hold near and dear? Or is everything conservative, right wing and military - evil. Surely there has been some good come from folks who serve their country. Surely there has been some good come from a conservative person, surely there has been some THING in your life that is worth talking up and being proud of.
Is there a soldier or a politician or a judge or a police officer in this country that deserves a little respect from you - or are they ALL evil as you tend to portray them?
Who made you the judge and jury?
I have yet to decide if you are unstable, too smart for your own good, or simply need someone to pity you - but you are indeed a person who would scare me if you lived next door.
Perhaps you are simply a poster playing around - if so - bad joke.
For now you get my pity - it must be lonely being so right and yet so alone in your opinions.
Well second question first.
No one.
But I am sick of reading day after day right wingers accusing the courts of being dominated by LEFTIE judges and the LEFTIE justice system in Canada that allows criminals to walk free
I am sick of right wingers constantly saying this used to be a great country when the fact of the matter this country has almost always been governed by the Liberals and indeed this IS A GREAT COUNTRY,even though right wingers like to think otherwise
As for the first question.
I hold very dear my marriage and the fact that I live in a wonderful country like Canada.
And I have a fantastic mortgage free home in the country.
And I have lots of wonderful animals
I can be happy no matter who the government is because no matter who is in power it affects my life not in the slightest because I have quite the secure life.
But as I said,I get so sick of people constantly whinning and complaining when we here in Canada have it better than most people in the entire world.
So maybe this soldier was given a fair trial.
But so does everyone in Canada
Finally - a human response from a human being.
I will do the unusual - embed my responses for you to ponder - apologies in advance for this - some people really find it annoying.
I asked you this once before and you did not answer - in fact you dodged it rather poorly - so I will ask again:
In fact this happens sometimes and does not happen others. Really, let's think on this. A woman in Calgary shoots her husband in the back 6 times and gets house arrest. A man steals a few thousand bucks from a small bank and gets 10 years. A young man of 22 steals a car and kills a friend while driving drunk and gets probation.
There are inequities here. Surley even you would agree with that. Especially if the fact that the car thief has done this before.
Be that as it may it is the right and the duty of the citizenry of this country to express their concerns - for if justice is to be done - it must bee seen to be done.
Many people do not see that as happening. Enough on this for now - I am not looking for a response - but I do want you to realize that it is important to voice approval or displeasure at happenings in this country - it keeps those who would call themselves leaders - on their toes.[/i]
I am sick of right wingers constantly saying this used to be a great country when the fact of the matter this country has almost always been governed by the Liberals and indeed this IS A GREAT COUNTRY,even though right wingers like to think otherwise
Is it not appropriate for people to want things to be better? Why is their opinion so much less of value than yours? They may complain about this country, but they do not want to tear it down they want to make it better.
The truth is usually somewhere in the middle.
Yes, better in their eyes. And perhaps worse in yours - but this is a democracy (of sorts) and therefore they will be heard. I for one hold that very near and dear to my heart.
As for the first question.
I hold very dear my marriage and the fact that I live in a wonderful country like Canada.
Long term marriage? If so you are the minority today it seems - be proud and happy and stay that way.
And I have a fantastic mortgage free home in the country.
Many do not and will strive for their entire lives to get there - some will fail dramatically through no fault of their own - once again be happy
And I have lots of wonderful animals
I bet I own a whole bunch more than you do - another time perhaps ;->
I can be happy no matter who the government is because no matter who is in power it affects my life not in the slightest because I have quite the secure life.
It must be very secure, because there is nothing that cannot be taken from you by the feds - never forget that. A government should always live in fear of its people - NOT the other way around.[/i]
But as I said,I get so sick of people constantly whinning and complaining when we here in Canada have it better than most people in the entire world.
It is typical of Canadians - some of the nicest people I know are Canuckleheads - yet they do love to either tell you how superior they are - or complain about how bad something is. I think it is something in the water.[/i]
So maybe this soldier was given a fair trial.
Perhaps - perhaps not.[/i]
But so does everyone in Canada
Really? Did we not just release someone - yet again from 12 years of prison - I wonder if he thinks the trial was a fair one.
Remember, for justice to be done ......
Not all judges and lawyers and police are good - not attempting to sound like you, or attempting to paint with a broad brush - but remember it is the people who will keep the elites of our society in line - otherwise we become nothing.
The older I get the less I trust - I have found my gut feelings to be more and more accurate as I age.
Have a good one.
Well on second thought
bush is a very dangerous man so I guess he can influence my life
If you think long and hard on this statement you will perhaps look at things differently when I say the following:
ANYONE can influence your life - a neighbour a friend or perhaps someone who commits a ranom act of violence.
To point out Bush is to look at far too narrow a path.
Baylee remember the only reason you have the ability to make the comments you do is the police who ensure law and order in Canada, and the soldiers who defend this country. So perhaps you should stop hating them so much as they are partially the reason you're living in this pathetic little country were you have so much due to the lives of others who were killed in Europe, Korea, the Balkan's, Mayerthorpe, and Afghanistan.
I find myself thinking and feeling the same way. My personal conflict was that I never really went with my gut feeling. Now I do. My gut tells me more that I think I know. Now I listen to it closely. Those gut feelings are rarely wrong.
It must be very secure, because there is nothing that cannot be taken from you by the feds - never forget that. A government should always live in fear of its people - NOT the other way around.[/
This is interesting to me. I have found myself with a little cloud over my head when people say 'well what can I do about it....' and then nothing more happens after that. 'Yah, but whattaya gonna do.?!' Something else besides sitting on your ass and saying ''Yah, but whattaya gonna do.?!"
I think it is time to put some fear back into the government where it came from. The Canadian people own this country, not the politicians. This is your home too, get involved.
Well I had a feeling there was a something about this Canadian Blue poster that was not right.
But this is more serious than I would have thought.
He has the nerve to call this amazingly great country we live in a pathetic little country?
Yes it is, because the general populace takes everything they have for granted.
My point was directed at you since you haven't sacrificed anything for this country, but you spit on the people who have.
But feel free to accuse me of being into kiddie porn on here.
Yeah, I'm giving four years of my life to wearing the maple leaf on my arm in service to this country. A monthly donor to Amnesty International, and decided instead of going to college to serve in the military for four years. Yet now I have to deal with people who accuse us and my fellow soldiers, some of whom who have died overseas as murderers [for the fun of it apparently]. You are so quick to condemn those who put their lives in danger everyday because this country sent them to Afghanistan, or some other troublespot in the world. You call police "pigs" and "things", despite the fact that the job takes a huge chunk out of them emotionally [PTSD, divorce], and in some cases physically [AID's, assaulits, cop killing, suicide].
So you can talk about how much you "love" this country, the only reason why we have this country is because throughout our history we have had men and women in emergency response [firefighters, police, paramedics] and military who have been willing to sacrifice so much, so you can remain safe in your home and condemn the very same people who are responsible for your wellbeing. People will use one bad apple to sully the image and reputation of the rest.
I love these people who say they love this country, yet when it comes to supporting the people who ensure this country is safe they do nothing but bash them. I went to the funeral as a member of the CF for the two firefighters who died in Winnipeg the other day, and I was reminded of the ultimate sacrifice made by those who are here to preserve our safety.
Keep in mind, their is always room for criticism and debate, however when you put your focus on pure rhetoric and speculation, that's when problems start occuring.
Baylee, perhap's if you read the entire post then you'd understand the irony in it. Your saying it's the greatest country in it, yet you don't recognize the only reason you have the freedom to say what you say is because of the sacrifice of others. So it show's the complete apathy you show with regards to how you have those freedom's, and how you take them for granted.
Canadian Blue
I have had one friend do two tours in Afghanistan.
Another who is still there.
An uncle of mine went over on a civilian contract. He never left the compound.
I know these people gave their lives to the county. But I do not want them dying for a lost cause. Canadian Blue, you would be missed if something happened to you. We are all saddened by the loss of our soldiers, so one way to releive that pain is to bring them all home and say that this was not a good idea to begin with.
Just because someone has not signed up for the military, we cannot sacrafice something? While those men and women are dying, we are fighting to bring them back home. yes we support our troops, just not the mission.
Posted
Ghosthacked I respect the position you have taken. However my point was about bashing the troop's which the poster has done. How would you feel if the troop's came back and were spit on by people who have no clue what the situation is like over there. I can't judge them either way since I haven't been there, but Baylee is accusing them of being murderers.
I think that protestors also give something to this country to if they stand up against something they deem to be a lost cause, or a waste of lives. However when you start bashing the people who are going over there because the government send's them there, that's what I have a problem with. Especially if you have never been in a similar situation.
Yea I read the entire post a few times and I see you calling Canada a pathetic country.
And Afghanistan has nothing at all to do with making this country great.
If anything it has made Canada a far more dangerous place.
I like the way you have a habit of hijacking threads and completly changing the subject,
which was soldiers murdering civillians as was the case in this thread
Yeah, that's obvious since your simple minded.
Listen bud, you omit important parts of newsreports in order to make soldiers out to be murderers. Stop talking about how much you love this country because it's obvious you are only one of those typical patriotic hypocrites who talks the talk, yet when it comes to action, never seem's to do anything. If you'll notice a majority of people on here don't want to even associate with you, including many on the left. So far the only person to come to your aid is Catchme.
