Leafless Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 Want to laugh: ------------------------------------------------------------ "M. Dion couldn't possibly believe that this emission credit scheme is good for Canadians. If he did, he would have taken some concrete steps to implement it during his tenure as environment minister. This has a lot more to do with getting back into power than it does with saving the world." "The fact that during his tutelage as environment minister under the corrupt Chretien government Canada actually increased its output of so-called greenhouse gases by 30%, while the Americans, the Liberals' favorite whipping boy, substantially reduced their output during the same time frame, is conveniently unmentioned." http://www.canadafreepress.com/2007/klaus021307.htm ----------------------------------------------------------------- I believe it when this article states, Canada is one of the few places on earth where politicians actually campaign on a platform that promises to INCREASE TAXES. Leafless Posted February 17, 2007 Author Report Posted February 17, 2007 Remember metric conversion implemented in 1970, resulting in throwing out the window the 'British Imperial system' because, so they said, because of pressures of technology and the market place. Funny thing though, our largest most significant trading partner never went metric, so why did we? As far as I am concerned the reason was primarily to get the British name out of measuring system, like our flag and to pander to the European system. Now primarily the Liberals have taken sides with Europe's sentimental attachment to Kyoto another nail in the coffin to disagree with the U.S. Differences between the E.U. and the U.S. include those over Iraq, Palestine, Iran, ballistic missile defense, the international criminal court, genetically modified crops, the Kyoto accords, farm support, China, Taiwan, Cuba, the death penalty, as well as a whole raft of trade issues. While it is possible to name individual European political leaders who genuinely like and admire America, it is difficult to think of a single major issue on which the U.S. and the E.U. hold identical views. IMO the Liberals are endangering our relationship with the U.S. more everyday by patronizing European ideologies. The E.U. currently has a population of 484 million, much larger than the U.S. and Canada combined. Canada's primary business is here in the WESTERN WORLD, NOT EUROPE. Our political allegiance should remain here in the West and presently this alliance is further being dismantled by Mr. Dion and company. Quote
