noahbody Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 As far as I can see it, the only way to achieve Kyoto targets is to get Alberta to separate. Of couse, that will take away 13 billion or so in equalization payments to the rest of Canada. But why not? Seriously, I can think of a proposed bill less responsible than the one trying to have Canada meet it's Kyoto targets. What a gong show. Quote

If we seriously wanted to meet the targets, we should have started many years ago. There is too little time left to meet them. Of course Dion is being dishonest for political gain. He has to go. Off topic question: What is the earliest the Liberals could replace Dion? He has proved to be a horrible leader. Quote

Who's Doing What? Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 Off topic question: What is the earliest the Liberals could replace Dion? He has proved to be a horrible leader. He and Harper will be gone next election. How? One of them will by default be a winner. Unless you are thinking Harper will leave or be forced out if he gets another Minority Govt.. Quote Harper differed with his party on some key policy issues; in 1995, for example, he was one of only two Reform MPs to vote in favour of federal legislation requiring owners to register their guns. http://www.mapleleafweb.com/election/bio/harper.html "You've got to remember that west of Winnipeg the ridings the Liberals hold are dominated by people who are either recent Asian immigrants or recent migrants from eastern Canada: people who live in ghettoes and who are not integrated into western Canadian society." (Stephen Harper, Report Newsmagazine, January 22, 2001)

If Harper gets another minority, he's fried. If Dion gets a minority he may get to stick around for another election. They are both in a pretty tight spots - must be rather nervewrecking. Quote

They are both in a pretty tight spots - must be rather nervewrecking. 100% right. The Liberals I'm sure fear the next CPC leader, possibly as much as the CPC fears the next Liberal leader. There really isn't any evidence of even the slightest possibility in the Liberals winning a minority, not with their Ontario numbers as they are. I'm confident in my assessment that both parties will be presenting new leaders not this election but the next. Dion is grossly incompetent in the position of leader. The Liberals are scattered more than they've ever been. Will Bernie Lord take the CPC? Maxime Bernier? Will Iggy or Kennedy take the Liberals? Or will Trudeau II make a run (not that anyone would fear that)? Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
