FTA Lawyer Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 There are over 20,000 lawyers practising in Ontario. There are 8 lawyers that supervise them for ethics. The rest of us have at least 20 - 40 cops for 20,000 people.... You can look at Law Society Of Upper Canada statistics. They only investigate a small percentage of complaints - about 1 %. I think lawyers should be treated the same way they treat the public. The fact is that I automatically assume any lawyer that I meet to be a lying manipulative gutless little money grubbing weasel until they prove otherwise. The reason why so few complaints get investigated is that the vast majority of them are in the form and nature of your last sentence. I've said before to other posters on this site, act like a raving lunatic and that is how you will be treated. As for the remaining theme of your rant...you seem to have a very warped idea of the role of provincial law societies. If a lawyer commits a criminal offence (such as money laundering) and you complain to the law society and demand criminal charges, you will be told that they have no mandate to deal with such charges. As with any citizen, the POLICE are responsible for investigating and charging lawyers for commiting crimes. The law society certainly has concurrent jurisdiction to investigate the professional conduct aspects that a criminal allegation will involve, but you cannot get any relief from a law society in relation to criminal prosecution of a lawyer. And don't even try to tell me how hard it is to find a police officer willing to investigate and charge a lawyer...many of them literally dream of having such an opportunity one day in their careers... As for your claim that you didn't accuse Danson of double billing, your actual words were: He is probably double billing for his services. Here is how Princeton University defines "probably": adverb 1. with considerable certainty; without much doubt; "He is probably out of the country"; "in all likelihood we are headed for war" 2. easy to believe on the basis of available evidence; "he talked plausibly before the committee"; "he will probably win the election" [syn: credibly] [ant: implausibly] Apparently, you have considerable certainty, on the basis of available evidence, that Mr. Danson is double billing his clients. Sounds like an accusation to me. FTA Quote

It wouldn't surprise me, if he was, what would anyone do about it ? Who could report it ? How would the law society even have time to investigate ? - which one of their other valid cases would they have to throw out to deal with this ? Maybe I said that too strongly - he may be, he may not be. The fact that he is a lawyer says that he is probably corrupt because so many lawyers are corrupt - not all, but its a safe assumption in my experience. I've already dealt with too many lawyers to be able to change persectives. Quote Support the troops. Bring them home. PolyNewbie Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 I make certain assumptions about lawyers when I see them the way certain lawyers make assumptrions about members of the public, ie we are "specks", etc. I think its the only response available to the public to counter the corruption and arrogance within the law society. Members of the public need to start showing lawyers the same degree of respect that we receive. Then maybe lawyers can learn to clean up their act on a grass roots level. The Law Society Of Upper Canada doesn't have the staff to deal with lawyer corruption. They admitted that to me on the phone. Quote Support the troops. Bring them home. If you have enough money you can get away with anything. 911 was an inside job. Oklahoma was an inside job. Kennedy assasination was an inside job because he wanted to print off debt free currency. Most of the terrorism in Iraq is being done by British and US troops to divide the country as outlined in the Clas Of Civilizations (a book) The current wars are banker takeovers of the world so they can cut population by 95 % and create a new myth based society. Bankers own almost all of the earth and we go to war against countries not yet owned by our banks so that we can put them in place and enslave their populations the same way we are enslaved by them. The wars have nothing to do with terrorism except the fact that our governments use terrorism toi make us want war with these countries that do not yet have our banks. Lawyers and the law profession have the power they do because they protect the money interest. You can't get monetary reform without the courts going along with it. The courts will never go along with it because legal professionals have an unfair advantage in our current system that they will not give up. They are building detention centers in every country all over the world that has private central bankers owning their money supply. Most lawyers are corrupt. Quote Support the troops.
