scribblet Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 Time for a new topic. Could Gomery and the fall out become a big problem for Dion, or will this just die. http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/news/st...85932a4&k=12330 Kathryn May, CanWest News Service; Ottawa Citizen Published: Thursday, February 08, 2007 OTTAWA - MPs went behind closed doors Wednesday night to decide whether to pursue perjury charges against half a dozen politicians and bureaucrats who said one thing at the Gomery inquiry and another when they testified before the Commons public accounts committee. The MPs on the committee were confronted with the decision when they received a report that compared "discrepancies" in the testimony of key witnesses. fellowtraveller Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 What I would like to know is: -what happened , exactly and specifically, to the $200 million that was stolen, and when can I expect restitution? - which politicians in which ridings received the money, and when will they be charged criminally? Nothing less. 'contempt of Parliament'? Who cares about that? Quote The government should do something.
geoffrey Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 I agree. Those Liberals that were elected with the stolen dollars need to be in prision... as do a whole lot of other people involved. I never really quite got why the President of the Treasury Board, who is responsibile for government spending, was never charged... or at least the deputy minister. In private business, the CFO or controller would certainly be implicated if there was a massive fraud of the shareholders... even if they don't have a hand in the fraud, it is absolutely their business to know and prevent such matters. Negligence on their part is just as damning than commiting the act IMO. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
