I am not going to respond point by point to the idiocy and bigotry above.

  • Always remember that when you are in the right you can afford to keep your temper, and when you are in the wrong you cannot afford to lose it. - J.J. Reynolds.
  • Will the steps anyone is proposing to fight "climate change" reduce a single temperature, by a single degree, at a single location?
  • The mantra of "world opinion" or the views of the "international community" betrays flabby and weak reasoning (link).

Personally, I would sooner take the words expressed publicly, from well respected and world renowned Jews, rather than from a made up moniker at mapleleaf forums, as I am sure most rational people would.

From the first page statement by world prominent Jews:

We hereby reclaim the tradition of Jewish support for universal freedoms, human rights and social justice. The lessons we have learned from our own history compel us to speak out. We therefore commit ourselves to make public our views on a continuing basis and invite other concerned Jews to join and support us...

If there is one thing on which Jews can agree, it is this: it's good to argue. Jewish culture has thrived on argument - frank, sincere disagreement - ever since Moses disputed with God. But today an oppressive and unhealthy atmosphere is leading many Jews to feel uncertain about speaking out on Israel and Zionism. People are anxious about contravening an unwritten law on what you can and cannot discuss, may or may not assert.

It is a climate that raises fundamental questions: about freedom of expression, Jewish identity, representation, and the part that concerned Jews in Britain can play in assisting Israelis and Palestinians to find their way to a better future.

As the situation in the Middle East deteriorates yearly, more and more Jews watch with dismay from afar. Dismay turns to anguish when innocent civilians - Palestinians and Israelis - suffer injury and death because of the continuing conflict. Anguish turns to outrage when the human rights of a population under occupation are repeatedly violated in the name of the Jewish people.

I have nothing against argument. I have a problem with the concept that all Jews know each other.

Good, then you agree with those Jews in the British Isles, that say Zionist Israel has no right to speak for ALL Jews across the world. And indeed Zionist Israel's ideology is NOT representative of ALL Jews around the world.

You are being disingenous. Catchme didn't mean you should know anyone personally, but merely that it was surprising you hadn't even heard of any of the prominent people on the list.

Sure they have the right. People have the right to be ingrates. You can invite someone over for Thanksgiving and they have the right to pick their nose at the table and not thank you. And you have the right not to consider them a friend.

Here, given the Jews' trajectory during much of the Common Era prior to 1948, and with accelerating force from 1892 (the Kisinev Pogroms) and L'Affaire Dreyfusse to the defeat of Nazi Germany, the "civilized" world had, at best, kind words for the Jews. Clearly, we needed and still need a State. Heck, we're an "indigenous" people too. We just don't blow up our children (with a goal of killing others) to demonstrate it.

Unlike Muslims, we don't harm or kill dissenters. Those brave Quisling Jews of course have the right to their opinion. And to their disgrace.
