Ricki Bobbi Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 It seemed relevant to today's political 'debate' on the environment ... It is relevant. To add to your post, it is rumoured that Mulroney was the one behing Harper's hard green turn. Quote Dion is a verbose, mild-mannered academic with a shaky grasp of English who seems unfit to chair a university department, much less lead a country. Randall Denley, Ottawa Citizen
Primary Source Posted February 2, 2007 Author Report Posted February 2, 2007 It is relevant. To add to your post, it is rumoured that Mulroney was the one behing Harper's hard green turn. Interesting ... Harper talks a bit about his new relationship with Mulroney in his introduction. And Mulroney does offer a vision for the future. Now if we could just get past the political credibility part of the debate! Quote
stignasty Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 There were three brothers. The oldest was a murderer, the second was a rapist and the third was a car thief. Based on the severity of the crime, the youngest brother was the most law abiding citizen. Quote "It may not be true, but it's legendary that if you're like all Americans, you know almost nothing except for your own country. Which makes you probably knowledgeable about one more country than most Canadians." - Stephen Harper

Who's Doing What? Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 Credibility in the sense that Dion has none or Harper's is growing daily? Quote Harper differed with his party on some key policy issues; in 1995, for example, he was one of only two Reform MPs to vote in favour of federal legislation requiring owners to register their guns. http://www.mapleleafweb.com/election/bio/harper.html "You've got to remember that west of Winnipeg the ridings the Liberals hold are dominated by people who are either recent Asian immigrants or recent migrants from eastern Canada: people who live in ghettoes and who are not integrated into western Canadian society." madmax Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 Credibility in the sense that Dion has none or Harper's is growing daily? While you may be laughing, Stephen Harper is being dragged kicking and screaming into the climate debate. He first questioned the science and is now moving towards accepting climate change and its human component. This reminds me of "only Nixon can go to China". Yes, the more he does something with regards to climate, the more credibility he will have. And yes he is going to do something, because he wouldn't be trying to expose Dions record, if he choose to do nothing himself. I don't think you will be laughing in the future. I could be wrong, but I am betting that Conservatives will actually doing something about the environment Quote

And as far as I'm concerned his overall credibility has only gone down since taking office. Harper will supplant him by the end of his next term in Government.... madmax Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 Mulroney did the most on the environment of any Prime Minister in the last 30 years.Harper will supplant him by the end of his next term in Government.... The Environment is sitting at the top of voters minds and without some good policy initiatives in the current term, Harper will not get a 2nd term to supplant the efforts of Mulroney. This is why I fully believe Harper will do something this term, and why they have come out swinging against Dion. I also think that the attack adds are working. They are trying to paint the Liberals as the Non Environment Party. Ah full circle between tweedle dee and Tweedle DION. Mulroney was pressured by a strong environmental movement in the 80s. Alot was accomplished, and there is no doubt, that as a government Figure Head, Mulroney lead the charge, particularly challenging Reagan. Quote
