Saturn Posted January 14, 2007 Author Report Posted January 14, 2007 And I will be a wacko nut job by saying I believed the media and mainstream America 'pushed' bush into a war with Iraq. This was not in Bush's plans. I believe I can prove this but it would take massive research and cites on my part. Bush didn't want to take it on with Iraq, the people of the United States wanted to take it on with Iraq. Polls show this. Again it would take lots of time to dig into these facts on my part. Man, you really are a wacko nut job. You should seek help. I found your loony claims funny at first, simply annoying later, but at this point I'm concerned about you. Quote

I found your loony claims funny at first, simply annoying later, but at this point I'm concerned about you. aww.. your not going to make me spend 2 hrs tommorow on gathering cites to show proof that the Iraq war was a paranoid response to the Anthrax scare that was mainly brought on by the media asking questions on a DAILY basis "and what about Sadam?". The media and then Amermican people wanted to take out all their aggresion and attack someone so why not Sadam who had been a long time problem. Finding cites to back these will be very time consuming. Yes. I say the war an Iraq was a media 'driven' campaign in a response to the Antharax Scare. The whitehouse where the last people to jump on board. You know.. i wish there was a bigger Michael Moore conspiracy of why they went after Sadam. There wasn't. To be honest, Sadam brought it on himself by not co-operating with inspectors and playing the games he did for nearly a year. Claiming a politician took part in illegal activity is not rightful cause for banning and is what is discussed here almost daily in one capacity or another. normanchateau Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 The agenda driven left wing is a dictator minded hypocrite out to promote his agenda. That is who Saturn is. He's a card carying Libearl member with an agenda. I'm intrigued by your characterization of the evil Saturn. You are simultaneously labelling him a left wing dictator and a card-carrying Liberal. If Liberals are left wing, how do you characterize those who belong to the NDP or BQ? Is a multimillionaire industrialist and shipping magnate like Paul Martin who cut corporate and personal income taxes while cutting government services also "left wing"? And what about George Bush who increased both the US federal debt and deficit to the highest levels recorded in the history of the world? Are his economic policies, which are the opposite of Paul Martin's, "left wing" or "right wing"? I called saturn an Agenda Driven left winger in a 'voter' sense. Martin is beyond that. He's an political 'elite' in Canada. So are the members of the NDP and BQ. Big difference between a mere mortal with an agenda, and an political elite like Martin. And Bush cannot be blamed for his debt due to the falll of the economy when he took office and the Iraq war. If he was president around the time of Clinton he would have this great fiscal legacy I'm sure. Fascinating and unique theories but how about actually answering some of my questions? Quote
jbg Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 what kind of world in 2070 their children (and grandchildren) will live in. A world where we'll probably bowing to Mecca. Hopefully, a world where that part of the world will be a glassy parking lot. Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." jbg Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 Yet this shows that many right-wingers don't have the brains to understand such a simple example. If they cannot understand that salt can accumulate in a bucket of water, it's no wonder that they cannot comprehend that GHGs can accumulate in the atmosphere. You're brains probably would consider me a rightwinger. You also probably don't know that over 95% of the GHGs consists of water vapor. jbg Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 Overfishing was just part of the problem - despite the tight fishing quotas the fish ain't coming back. The other part is that the fish need food and a good environment to multiply. But that's gone and the fish aren't coming back. Maybe the concept of the North Atlantic Oscillation having a decisive role is too complex for those who want to blame everything on Bush. Read below (excerpts) You should check link for some striking graphs that won't post (link) : ==================================================================== North Atlantic Oscillation and year-to-year plankton fluctuations. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jean-Marc Fromentin LOBEPM. Observatoire des Sciences de l'Univers. Station Zoologique, B.P. 28. 06230 Villefranche sur mer. France. Benjamin Planque Sir Alister Hardy Foundation for Ocean Science. The laboratory, Citadel Hill. Plymouth PL1 2PB. United Kingdom. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This study investigates a link between a large-scale atmospheric phenomenon, the North Atlantic Oscillation1-4, and fluctuations in the abundance of zooplankton species. Since copepods are the major component of the northeast Atlantic and North Sea zooplankton5-6, we focused on two dominant species: Calanus finmarchicus and C. helgolandicus. Long-term variations in abundance of these two species are closely associated with the state of this oscillation, although their responses to the NAO are opposite. We suggest that the relationship between the NAO and the two Calanus species results from three main processes: (i) alterations in the stratification of the surface layer that modify the spring phytoplankton bloom7-8, (ii) variations in sea surface temperature, and (iii) changes in interspecific competition. Finally it is hypothesized that the North Atlantic Oscillation plays, in the the North Atlantic, a comparable role to the El Niño Southern Oscillation, on pelagic ecosystems. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) is an alternation of air mass that occurs between the subtropical region (centred on the Azores), and the subpolar region (centred on Iceland). The state of NAO determines the speed and direction of the westerlies across the North Atlantic as well as temperatures on both sides of this ocean1-4, during winter and early spring. A high NAO pattern is characterised in the northeast Atlantic by a reinforcement of the westerlies that are pushed further south, and hence by warmer winter temperatures than normal. On the contrary, a low NAO pattern is typical of a weakening of the westerlies that are moved far north from their average position, and by colder winter temperatures. Recently, Greenland ice cores data have revealed large decadal climate variations over the North Atlantic that can be related to the NAO9. It also appears that the persistence of an exceptionally strong positive phase of the NAO seems to be the source of recent temperatures anomalies and changes in atmospheric moisture transport10. Thus, the NAO is a large scale atmospheric phenomenon analogous to the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO). These developments and previous studies4,11-15 that showed the influence of the ENSO on Pacific pelagic ecosystems, raise the question: does the NAO influence the pelagic ecosystems of the North Atlantic? We investigated the connections between the NAO and zooplankton from long-term monitorings of meteorological and plankton data. The NAO index indicates the state of this oscillation, a positive index corresponding to a high NAO pattern and a negative index to a low NAO pattern. Sea surface temperatures (SST) and west wind stress component (WWS) data were provided by the Comprehensive Ocean Atmosphere Data Set. The plankton data were collected by the Continuous Plankton Recorder survey (CPR)16, a routine monthly synoptic survey of plankton in the North Atlantic and North Sea. We studied two copepods species, Calanus finmarchicus and C. helgolandicus, which contitute the major component of the Northeast Atlantic and North Sea zooplankton5-6, in terms of biomass, abundance and trophic role, and which fulfil a similar function in the ecosystem. Our purpose was to examine the specific responses of these two species to that large scale phenomenon. We analysed long-term and year-to-year changes in abundance of the two Calanus species from 1962 to 1992, on a large area of the Northeast Atlantic, where the CPR sampling intensity was adequate.
