B. Max Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Thankfully we will never see either one of these jokers get their hands on the levers of power. Every now and then they pop up like a couple of jack in the boxes and then disappear just as quickly. Reminding their voters they are still on the job and sparing the rest of us the minimum of embarrassment. http://www.630ched.com/news/news_local.cfm...=news_local.cfm Quote

B. Max Posted December 17, 2006 Author Report Posted December 17, 2006 Yeah because the last thing we want in Alberta is a responsible opposition. I'd prefer responsible government. Something Edmonton hasn't had for years. The latest proof came when they refused to do one of their main jobs last week and not plow the streets. Well that was until the phones started ringing off the wall at the aldermans homes. Suddenly they found responsibility. Quote
geoffrey Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 I like how Taft thinks Ed's cabinet choices will blow up in his face next election. Ha. And who are they going to pick, the party of irrelevance led by Taft? The Liberals provincally are pretty weak. You won't see them winning an election.... ever. If there is an attack on PC power, which there won't be as long as times are good, it will come from the right or centre... definitely not from the left... even if that left is more right than it would be in Ontario. Suddenly they found responsibility. Well, isn't your example of municipal government analogous of having a responsible opposition? I mean, that's what they're there for, to "ring the phones" and keep the government in check. It's not like we have a separation of powers in this province. fellowtraveller Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 I was disappointed to see Gary Mar not in the new cabinet. I don't know him personally, but I do know a couple of people who have worked for him. They are normally pretty critical of Ministers, but both had plenty of nice things to say about his competence and work ethic. Quote The government should do something.

Yup. Albertans would vote for Hitler (well, about 20 per cent of them would, but here, that's more than enough to win) as long as oil prices keep the economy swimming in cash for new sleds and ground FX packages. Canadian Blue Posted December 19, 2006 Report Posted December 19, 2006 I remember the Liberal's were talking about changing their name so they wouldn't be associated with the Federal Liberal's. Perhaps the NDP and Lib's should merge, I think some good would come out of having a united left wing party. Quote "Keep your government hands off my medicare!" - GOP activist
