"Mr. Omar, after winning the Liberal Nomination in Mississauga-Erindale, stood and announced loudly, several times, this is a VICTORY for ISLAM, ISLAM WON, ISLAM WON, he also started talking about how Islamic power is extending in the Canadian Politics, and the Muslims cheered around him.

How can a nominee who's "supposed" to present all Liberals, be in such manner?, how does the Liberal Party represent such a person ?, for the first time Canadian voting is now based on religion.

The posts existed and then the CBC removed the discussion forum. Somebody obviously copied the site before its removal and that is what MikeDavid linked to above.

Of course, it was just an Internet forum containing the same kind of nonsense as one finds here.

What don't you understand? Under a PR system a ballot cast for a party that does not receive the plurality of votes still helps to create representation. Currently, only those that support the leading party receive any representation.

Under any voting system that I know of, a single ballot changes nothing in the overall results. That's true in FPTP or in PR. In effect, a single ballot is always "wasted" because it changes nothing.

I think you are suggesting that we should have a different mix of MPs sitting in Ottawa. I can see why the NDP would want to have more NDP MPs in the Commons.

No. A claim was made that he didn't say it and that it might have been someone else. Many people claimed that he did say it.

The claim being made that he did not say it was by fellow brothers of his faith and his own special interest political agenda. Also, someone who wrote into the Toronto Sun said that he did say it and said the nominations were hijacked by people from the Islamic faith. the Liberal Party investegated this issue and buried it. I tried over and over to look for his letter online and cannot find it. I have a copy of his letter though in my email in one of my .pst files on a DVD. When I get around to restoring in Vista, I will surely post it.
