If the UN is irrelavent then why does everyone make such a fuss over it?

All this BS about the UN being irrelavent from neo-con types reminds me of a child telling their parents they don't need them.

What makes it relevant? I just read today about the fact that the UN has allowed another oil-for-food like program to happen. An independent audit is to be conducted because North Korea it seems was given money to help feed their starving peoples while at the same time refusing UN oversight. As a result of that lack of oversight, $Millions of dollars have been diverted by the North Korean government for other uses, possibly even their nuclear weapons program. http://www.voanews.com/english/2007-01-19-voa79.cfm

The truth is that the UN has become a totally useless bureaucracy sucking taxpayers money from many countries for absolutely no results, unless you count yearly condemnation of Israel while the terrorist organization who love to attack Israel are not taken to task for their violations of Israeli citizenry.

The countries providing money to the UN should instead provide it directly to the people needing aid. There is no reason that the loyalty and gratitude resulting from the aid should go to UN thieves or dictatorial kleptocrats.
