scribblet Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 Say it isn't so Joe, not again.... http://tinyurl.com/ykda2z Was taxpayer money used improperly? Joe Volpe's campaign people and staff at a federally funded charity are at odds over campaign's questionable use of charity clients and their pay. Linda Diebel reports. Oct. 15, 2006. 03:42 AM LINDA DIEBEL Joe Volpe has been accused of using taxpayer money to fund his campaign for the Liberal leadership. The allegation comes after he was fined by the party for an earlier breach. The Career Foundation, a non-profit charity funded by Ottawa, rounded up clients to work for the Eglinton-Lawrence MP prior to the recent "Super Weekend" delegate vote. In early October, it issued cheques totalling $2,687.50 to seven clients. Volpe spokesperson Corey Hobbs says the campaign always intended to pay: "There was a clear and legal plan in place that we would be paying these people for their services ... There is an invoice that is being processed right now." Three managers at the charity, in Volpe's riding and formerly within his purview as a federal cabinet minister, formally complained to executive director Colin Morrison about the assignment. They argued they weren't a recruitment centre, that it was unethical for a non-profit to be involved in partisan politics, and that clients could be put at risk of losing government benefits. There were also complaints about the foundation issuing the cheques. Morrison, a former teacher and guidance counsellor in York Region, denies doing anything improper. He acknowledged the complaints from his managers — "I never did satisfy them" — but said the recruitment served a "higher purpose ... I felt very good about it."...... watching&waiting Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 This guy should be given a technical knockout ruling and be done with it. He and his people are only there to give the party black eyes. It would be in most of the other parties best interests to have him stay running, but even they would say by now that it is getting just too stupid. Quote

Ricki Bobbi Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 Good news for the Conseratives. Volpe sure ain't a team player. The writing has been on the wall for his chances for a long tiem now. As far as the Libs are concerned, the latter would be the better option. Morrison, a former teacher and guidance counsellor in York Region, denies doing anything improper. Shakeyhands Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 B Max and RB, Stating that what Volpe or Volpe's campaign does is condoned by the rest of the party is bollocks and you both know it. Why try to smear the entire party? This is very similar to Harpers assertion that the Liberal party is Anti Israel because of the views (mistaken as they were) of one person. Oh well, I guess it is time for the CPC, and by extension you guys, to get desperate. Imagine losing support to a leaderless party... wow. Desperate? Hmmm, we are still in government and the most recent polls all put the Liberals and Conservatives within the margin of error. Pick your leader and let's see how much your support holds up? If Volpe's actions aren't condoned kick him out of the leadership race and strip him of his membership. Unless that is done it seems that his actions are condoned by the party. Interesting cutting and pasting of my reply. Methinks you should quit the attacks. Your special status on this board can only last so long. There was a history to my post. It's a good place as long as everybody follows the rules. It's a good place as long as everybody follows the rules. Sorry for the attack. If you don't want me to mock you then stop playing your little games, such as making references to me throughout the forum, as you did in this case. You complain about my "special status" and how you get the short end of the stick, but mods and admin aren't stupid Ricki. They can see who's doing the baiting...who's starting things. I ignore most of your snide little references to me. When I take the bait and gently mock you for your baiting it's YOU who's the victim of my "attacks". Don't tell me to follow the rules Ricki, just report me if you believe I'm ever not following them. Then all you have to do is not bait me as you did here and be polite and don't call me a "hater" anymore, and it will be a "good place", as you say. Never said anything about my getting short-end of the stick grehatrick. Yet another example of the dishonesty in your posts. Ignore me? You ignore zero of anything I do. You follow me around the board because I'm the one objecting most strenuously to your hatred of our Prime Minister. Was telling me to f*ck off an example of your "gentle" mocking? You have been reported many times by many posters. Things on the same order that you have done have, and should have, gotten many other posters banned. Why you are still here is increasingly suspicious on a supposedly non-partisan message board.
