BubberMiley
Under that premise I surmise there is faint hope, which is more than we would have under either the Liberals or NDP. Not necessarily. I don't really think of this as a left-right issue at all. I'm a full-blown NDPer, and I'm all for the "three strikes and you're out" approach. In fact, where child-rape is involved, that sounds like two strikes too many. Harper was elected because the people were sick of the other guys and wanted a change. Don't confuse electoral success (which came be attributed to a wide variety of factors) with broad support. jdobbin
I didn't say that Harper or his government had done anything to change that yet. But, you have to admit that the conservatives are the only ones even giving lipservice to the idea, let alone doing anythying about it. Under that premise I surmise there is faint hope, which is more than we would have under either the Liberals or NDP. There are a lot of governments involved across Canada...NDP, Conservative and Liberal. I think they'll all have to work together on something that really works to keep dangerous repeat offenders off the street. In Winnipeg, the first community prosecutor in Canada is going after these very people that pose real dangers in their community. I'm not an NDPer but that has been an initiative from an NDP government.
