Toronto has the one Breast Health and Disease Specialist in Canada. ONE. If you are a woman or have a woman in your life that means something to you THIS should concern you. (I think Mt Sinai is in Toronto, I thought it was in Montreal but not sure on that.)

ONE Specialist Surgeon in all of Canada. I can only imagine what the waiting list is like to see him. :(

Every civilized country in the world has more than one Women's Health Centre, ladies, in Canada you dont count. Only in Toronto and it hurts to give them credit for anything, but there you have it.

I've just never really liked anyone I have met from Toronto, they have an attitude that is off putting and grating. The first thing required of you is to bring them down to size and let them know they arent superior, but you are :P

Come on, the liberals have taught you guys better than that. The only REAL answer to the problem is to allow the homeless and unemployed to mug the middle class using the government as their weapon

Interesting you mention this.

I was receiving welfare in york communist region. It seems to me with york region's record low of like 2 sparsely located shelters, the hatred, racism, abuse of the socialist services office there, it was the wealthy people who f*cked me over and forced me to be a burden on what you consider the 'middle class' in Toronto.

Vaughan needs to be annexed by Toronto, but then you would inherit many criminals of a nationalities which I will not mention somehow living in obscene luxury quickly accumulated since 1991.

Read this article from the star:

While annual funding per new immigrant in Toronto is $873, the total comes to $558 in Peel, $503 in Durham, $418 in Halton and a meagre $179 in York, despite the unique challenges posed by the size of service area and less efficient transit.

Move to Alberta, I can have you a job the day you get off the bus/plane. Let's be realistic, if this is really one country, and some think it is, you shouldn't have an unemployment issue in Toronto if Calgary can't find enough workers.

Hitchhike out here, whatever, being able-bodied and unemployed is an unexcusable crime in Canada today.

Sure, complain you won't find a house in Calgary, but hey, these bums don't have houses now anyways, so at least they are no longer leeching welfare.

MOCKINGBIRD:

Before I comment in this thread, I would be interested in knowing why you are not employed, and why you are in need of help from the welfare system.

Do you have some sort of debilitating condition???

I've lived in Mtl, Van, T.O., and now Wpg.

I've visited every province (but no territories).

Pretty much every place in Canada has a lot to offer. I'd rather live in any province than anywhere in the U.S., except for maybe Flagstaff, AZ and NYC.

The only place I would hate to live is, despite the wealth, Calgary. Just too much car-based architecture and beige-stucco sprawl for me.

Well, if you think TO is a mean city it may get even meaner! I heard that the garbage that is doing to get reduced by the Michigan dump taking TO's waste! Toronto NEEDS to get rid of its own garbage's like the rest of us do! The past govts haven't done a very good job at this and very soon, you may see garbage not collected cause they can't find a place to put it!

I see a mention of Immigrants receiving Government Funding, a Settlement Allowance but I dont see actual statistics of their being on Welfare. Most Immigrants and Refugees receive a Settlement Allowance, that in a lot of cases has to be paid back.

This is to provide clothing and household furniture for them. And to allow them time to attend ESL classes and Settlement Programs.

It seems that Toronto isnt providing adequate Settlement Services to their new arrivals. There is where the fault lies, not with the Immigrants and Refugees. As per usual the Government had dropped the ball, creating problems for everyone.

If there are Canadians, as in born here, having a hard time finding jobs and housing, you can imagine how much harder it is for new arrivals. Many are not allowed to work in the food industry.

It also appears from the article that the plan for new arrivals is to put them into minimum wage jobs, service stations, fast food, etc. That really sucks and is a form of racism in itself.

In some of the oil rich countries (Iran) immigrants are brought in to do the menial dirty tasks that its native citizens refuse to do. By all accounts, its becoming a universal economic 'trend'.

Is there a new law banning immigrants from working in the food/service sector?

I think not - since the last time i was there eating in a vietnamese restaurant the place was swarming with underpaid immigrant workers living in horrid conditions. Are canadians now having to do these awful underpaid tasks too or instead of them due to a lack of specialisted qualifications and availability in other areas?

Why only point out a city's negatives? At least give an objective outlook to render your argument credible.

Toronto is a world class city. Yes, like all major cities, we have problems, but that doesn't make this city a terrible place to live.

Why would I want to live here? We've got a little bit of everything from a little bit of everywhere. Born, raised, and God-willing, will die here.

Yes indeed!!

We need only to look at Stats Canada for an objective reality check.

Putting aside the figures - i can honestly say id love to live there. But the cost is considerably high . . even if one has a profession.

Self-serving immigrants who preach hatred? To whom are you referring? And what is the "canadian dream"? Please elaborate if you're willing.

You can tell by eating in a vietnamese restaurant that those there were

underpaid, immigrants and living in in horrid conditions?

How is that possible?

Was it something in the food?

You must tell us how you know all of this by eating food in a vietnamese reataurant.
