Despite the Public Safety Minister from Sri Lanka admitting in a recorded telephone call that the gun buyback was a complete waste of time and would do nothing for public safety, the government has announced, after a disaster of a pilot project, that the project worked wonderfully and they'll spend another billion dollars to roll it out nationwide.

"Yes, it's a lot of money," the minister said, "But well worth it since Quebecers and low-information urban voters seem to think it shows us fighting against gun crime (laughter). Anyway, it's not our money. It's the taxpayers', so why not use it?"
