August1991 Posted June 18, 2025 Report Posted June 18, 2025 Sarcasm is saying the opposite of what you mean. But if you blink, it becomes irony: An inside joke. ====== I recently watched an interview with Eric Idle. (He's still alive, as well as John Cleese - they both live in California.) Idle hates Trump. Irony. Quote
August1991 Posted July 15, 2025 Author Report Posted July 15, 2025 (edited) Watch the movie Mighty Aphrodite. At the end, it illustrates irony very well. As a viewer, you will see and understand the situation of the character on the stage - while the character does not understand. Woody Allen made irony explicit. August1991 Posted July 21, 2025 Author Report Posted July 21, 2025 Sardonic. This word troubled me: Its origin, etymology. ==== I have never met Woody Allen. Quote
