geoffrey Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 EDMONTON - Alberta Premier Ralph Klein talked with Gov. Gen. Michaelle Jean about provincial separation during her official visit Thursday, telling her it "would be bad" for national unity if Ottawa tried to take away more of Alberta's oil and gas money. Jean finally came to Calgary, first time ever, and Klein was quick to discuss, in private with her, Alberta's relucance to give any more then we already do. "She asked me what our line in the sand would be E relative to separation," Klein said Thursday, recapping his conversation with the Queen's representative."She wants to know how prevalent it is here. While it's not prevalent right now, you know as well I do that there are some people out there who talk about separation. And I think it will be inflamed if we bring resource revenue into the equation." ... The premier, who will retire at the end of this year, reiterated Thursday he is not interested in separation himself. Klein is completely right. He's always stated he wants to be a Canadian first, but has always recognised that many Albertans are upset with the raw deal we get with the rest of Canada. -- Personally, as a big of an Alberta nationalist myself, I'd rather see Alberta have more independance from Ottawa. Any further incursion on our economy or way of life out here is not to be tolerated, and it's unlikely many Albertans would tolerate it. McGuinty, always the ridiculous complainer, recent spoke out against rising interest rates, blaming Alberta on Ontario's hardship. What ridiculous rhetoric. McGuinty brought his own troubles with his ridiculous tax increases and poor economic vision. Alberta shouldn't have to pay for that or for the poor economic management of all the other provinces. But we do, and will continue to do so. But if the other provinces get even more greedy, yet still refuse to change their economic ignorance of reality, then I can easily see sentiment in Alberta going towards seperatism. Alberta and Quebec have alot in common. Distinct cultures, different ideals, from mainstream Canada. The difference is, Alberta can afford seperation. rogue state Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 i told you earlier. ontario-quebec should develop atomic weapons. that's the only way to deal with americans. that's should be simple, they have the know how. bring some muslims (as if they don't have enough already). and teach america to respect sovereignty of other countries. sorry to be rude, but that's the fact.
