Guest Warwick Green
I would rather have a 63-yr old pregnant who wants to be than a 17-yr old who doesn't. British woman, 63, announces pregnancyA 63-year-old British woman is seven months pregnant after undergoing fertility treatments abroad. Patricia Rashbrook, a child psychiatrist who will become one of Britain's oldest mothers when she gives birth at 63, and her husband John Farrant leave their home in Lewes, southern England, on Thursday. Patricia Rashbrook, a child psychiatrist, posed for reporters Thursday outside her home in East Sussex in southeast England, with her 61-year-old husband, John Farrant. "We take our responsibilities very seriously and regard the best interest of the child as paramount," the couple said in a statement. "What we would wish now is to be allowed the right to pursue our family life in private." Italian doctor Severino Antinori told Reuters that he performed in vitro fertilisation on an English woman in October 2005 in a former Soviet republic. The same doctor helped a 62-year-old Italian woman get pregnant in the early 1990s. Rashbrook has a 26-year-old daughter and a 22-year-old son, according to London's Sun newspaper. In 1997, a 60-year-old from Wales became the oldest woman in Britain to give birth. A 66-year-old Romanian set the world record in 2005, when she gave birth to a girl. http://www.cbc.ca/story/world/national/200...nant060504.html
geoffrey
Well, the biggest problem is she'll likely be dead by the time the kid is 18, statisically speaking (81 is average age of death for a UK female). I wonder why people act so selfishly and don't think of the consequences of their actions? kilkee
She's a child psychiatrist so she should know the problems. It's unusual but I feel she should be praised for trying. Whereas those who go to the abortion clinics should also get the same publicity. Quote My blog http://conservativepoetry.blogstream.com/
scribblet
Gosh, don't you think there's something wrong with someone that old starting to raise a child? I just hope she can afford a nanny because she's going to need one full time at her age.
