Hockey season is underway. Looks like it will be interesting to see who will end up on top, at the end of the season. Will the Bruins finally pull it off in the playoffs? Do the Rangers have a good enough team to make a run at the cup? Will Florida repeat? Can the Oilers end their 35 year drought, and hoist the cup? Will Utah make the playoffs now that they are out of Phoenix?

So many questions. I'm just glad the Jets are 5-0-0 to start the season, considering most experts predicted they would not be as good as last year. Hopefully they can keep it up.

Alex Ovechkin, who at 6'5/225, with no significant injuries during his entire pro career, was injured at the worst possible time. OV, or "The Great 8" as he is affectionately known, was on an absolute tear this season, leading the league in goals, with 15 in 19 games.

At 39, and only 27 goals away from Gretzky's goal record of 894, it appeared like Ovi would easily shatter the record by March, perhaps even hitting 900 by the end of the season. Now all that is in doubt, as he is expected to miss at least a month with a leg injury suffered against Utah.

Let's hope they Ovi makes a full recovery by Christmas.

After starting 15-1, the Jets have cooled off, and have lost 3 of the last 4. Solid D-man Dylan Samberg went down with a broken ankle, after blocking a shot. Hope they can turn things around, and get back to their winning ways.

After coming back to Earth, the Jets won last night against Montreal, winning 4-2. Hellebuyck won again, and is leading the NHL in most goalie stats. Connor, Schelfele, Vilardi, and Perfetti are playing great. Prospect Nikita Chibrikov is really turning heads, and hopefully will stay up with the team.

On defense, Josh Morrissey has arguably been one of the best blue liners of the past five years. I hope Samberg returns. Logan Stanley has been a pylon, and I have no idea why he is still in the lineup. At 6'7, one would expect him to use his size, but he is soft, and cannot really fight. I hope Heinola and Salomonsson make the permanent lineup and replace him.

As for goaltending, Hellebuyck remains the best goalie in the NHL. signing him was the best move the Jets have made in the last couple of years, and the team will live and die, according to his play. Comrie is popular in Winnipeg, but not at all ready to replace Helle if he goes down with injury. I really miss Brossoit, but he signed for big money elsewhere.
