it's possible in some areas, I'm not aware of any histories actually referencing that. But I think it is very likely that the bodies were simply placed in the grave without the usual treatment by an undertaker so they probably decayed even if they weren't cremated. Also I doubt that they are all in the places that people thought. We know that many of the sites are right near other existing graveyards and that at those times they must have been in a rush at some points where they would have numerous children and other people in the area dying in a short period of time.

I think there's a lot of really negative things that we need to have a talk about as a nation when it comes to the residential schools. But this whole "mass grave" thing Or that idea that children died in large numbers for an nefarious reason it's just utter bull crap.

I can't believe we're talking about this and we're blatantly ignoring the Eugenics Style scientific testing that was done on first nations kids at residential schools in Saskatchewan in the 40s and 50s where they starve them near to death to see what the effect of malnutrition would be. Like that is some serious Nazi-esque bullcrap that actually happened and was actually approved of by the Canadian government at the time. But not a word about that

Long story short, despite years of searching and hundreds of millions of dollars they haven't found any actual bodies yet. The nation freaked, the world was shocked, the senate even passed laws against 'Denialsm",  but at the end of the day it just hasn't materialized. 

Just another tactic employed by the Liberals to shift focus from their ineptitude and justify millions of squandered taxes!
