A Question About Communism

Capitalism works, so long as people can remain ethical. When ethics goes out the window, so does the system. Ethics isn't out the window yet, but it's clinging on to the windowsill and moral relativists and leftist nutcases are busy stamping on its fingers.

Does it suprise you that many of the unethical companies are run by right-wingers who are very religious? lol. :)

Interesting concept, but the idea of competition(hence the idea of more $$) is often a stronger motivator.

It motivates you to compete, but for fairness you need more.

For instance, imagine you and I are in a running race. What's the easiest way for me to win? If I attack you by surprise and beat you unconscious that then means that I can run the race unopposed. In order to have a fair race, I either need some morality and ethics that I should be a good sportsman, or some rules for the race and a means of enforcing them should I attempt to cheat.

The idea is for more $$, as you say, but often the easiest way to make that more $$ is through lying and cheating. That is why morality or law is needed.

I have not read all the responses so forgive me if this is redundant. Socialism breeds slackers. Why work harder then the person next to you and reap the same rewards? You’ll die first and he wins.

Exactly. Socialism provides no incentive to work. There's an old Russian saying: "We pretend to work, and they pretend to pay us."

Communism will never work with humans. Humans are far too greedy for it to work.

<grabs chest gasping>

Nova, I actually agree with you. If every person on the planet was willing to work for the greater good of everyone, we'd all live like Kings and Queens. But there is greed. That and who would be willing to be a trash picker upper?

Wow, I agree with this statement....

Morning Nova. A question relevent to the discussion; what do you aspire to be when you finish your studies. Your raison d'etre so to speak, the way you will feed your family?

It's 9:00 PM in Hawaii. Not exactly morning, even though I do eat cereal at this time :)

raison d'etre: Not entirely sure. Many Finance or Economics, or perhaps, if no one is willing to take over my aunt and Grandfather's accounting firm, I might study accounting.

Politics is for the birds. Not fun. Nor do I wish to become what I detest.

Thanks for being honest Nova. I guess where it is relevent is that you will deal with everybody else reguardless of systems involved. This is a cheap shot for sure but will you only deal with people with money that hate the US? Will you only deal with people that have no money that are Buddhists? Of course not, you will do what you do and to who pays you to do it. Remind me if I ever use your services; if I pay you will you work for me or somebody else seeing as how I am paying your wages?

The US taxpayer pays the government to look after Americans. Sometimes they do not do it right or in the best interests of somebody say, from Luxembourg but they are not US taxpayers are they?

No. Your money is just as good as his. It might be a bit more crumpled, but it's just as good. I am a product of American society and culture. Even with me, when morality and ethics clash with the bottom line, the line will usually win. Saddening, but true. However, I will draw the line before most people will in who i trade with should certain "tidbits" of information come to light.

LOl. I had a english teacher who was buddist. I hated him. He was so subjective. One of my worse teachers. However, he did bring to light Dear ol' Leopold's fun in the Congo. I do give him props for that.

Depends where the money is comming from and where I am finiacially. :) Don't you love capitalism?

Of course, but collecting taxes doesn't mean you can screw up alot.

I refer to Luxembourg because they are a rich, tiny european nation with very few atrocities attached to their name. One of my favorite european countries, now if they only invented the autobougn!
