Riverwind Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 I noticed CBC radio is not streaming any coverage of the election until the polls close in BC. I thought the gag law was struck down. Is that beast still alive? What about posting results on this forum? Is that allowed? Quote To fly a plane, you need both a left wing and a right wing.

Is that beast still alive? What about posting results on this forum? Is that allowed? No, its actually against the law until the polls close in BC (10:00EST). So you Easterners can't talk until almost bedtime. Here is the law: 329. No person shall transmit the result or purported result of the vote in an electoral district to the public in another electoral district before the close of all of the polling stations in that other electoral district. You can talk all you want about politics, CBC has political stuff on. Just no results. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
fellowtraveller Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 So, we'll have to wait until late tonight to see if Sven Robbingstores has triumphed over the forces of evil? Quote The government should do something.
geoffrey Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 So, we'll have to wait until late tonight to see if Sven Robbingstores has triumphed over the forces of evil? You won't hear final results in the close BC ridings until probably 1 or 2 am EST. The polls don't close until 10:00EST so if its down to the last reporting station then yup, it will be late. I'll be at the Conservative HQ tonight, watch for the drunk, that'll be me. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
August1991 Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 The polls close in Quebec and Ontario at 9:30 pm EST and then the polls close in BC/Yukon at 7 pm PST (or 10 pm EST). So, people in Quebec and Ontario will have to wait 30 minutes extra before discussing results. Polls in Newfoundland however will close at 9:30 pm NST which is 7:00 pm EST - so, there will be a temptation to find out how the parties have done in the 32 Atlantic ridings earlier. Of course, we could all agree to join a US discussion forum until the BC polls close. Anybody know about US web sites intending to host Canadian election night? (Is it illegal to discuss this in Canada?) Bureaucrats and lawyers are clueless about the Internet, and digital information. Quote
