geoffrey Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 Just wanted to get some opinions about how weather is going to affect this election. Would a big snowstorm convince certain voters not to head to the polls? Would a bright sunny day perfect for voting encourage more from certain parties out? Just looking out on this ridiculous snow (its not much, just all snow is ridiculous, thats why we have global warming) here in Calgary, I know this would have less people hitting the polls. It's just a matter of whether certain groups are affected more. Would it be fair to say that the incumbant would be disadvantaged because "oh he'll win anyways, its too cold"? Would less privledged people be less convinced to vote because they don't have a car to get them warmly the 3 or 4km to the polling station? Would the relgious people not vote because God is sending a message? (kidding) Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
BubberMiley Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 Aren't polling stations usually no more than a couple of blocks away? Most people have to get out of the house regardless of the weather anyway, but I guess they might have to work extra hard making sure the seniors get out. Fewer seniors means fewer votes for the CPC; more people under 30 equals more votes for the NDP. newbie Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 I think what's at stake here will override a little snow. Quote
