Rovik Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 wow ! i thought Martin was spectacular but there's lots more in that arsenal to dish out. there is no point fooling around with duceppe and layton. i really liked the manner in which he went after harper. Harper, for his part i will congratulate for maintaining composure and showing canadians the fake side of himself. we saw a lot of smiling teeth from harper this time around. he knows that his scary face is a liabilty. i congratulate harper for maintaining his composure, but as good as Martin was, he needs to continue to differentiate himself from harper and go on an all out assault. we don't have canadians coming home in body bags from Iraq! let's cash in on that mr martin, let's take harper through preschool again. * on a sidenote, NDP lost some votes to the liberals last night by agreeing with Harper on mandatory sentences. Hmmmm...an overzealous Liberal I see. The NDP is pushing mandatory sentences only with gun crimes not all crime, that's quite a distinction so I can't see them losing many too the Liberals and in fact, the NDP could gain some soft Conservative support (who would never vote for the corrupt Liberals) with this stance. Harper, for his part i will congratulate for maintaining composure and showing canadians the fake side of himself. Harper was quite honest; he isn't a great speaker and hasn't got a lot of on-screen charisma. As for phoney, you clearly lack the background to understand what the term means. Paul Martin is nothing but a cardboard cutout. Everything he expresses his love and passion for he slashed ruthlessly when he was Finance Minister. Everything he swears he wants to protect he ignored or attacked. The man cares for nothing and no one but power, and has always been that way. The feds have been rolling in money over the last five years, with Martin consistently lying about his financial projections and playing the kind of accounting games Enron managers would envy in order to hide billions in excess cash. All the while almost every province in the country was desperately trying to claw together enough money to keep their rickety health, education and welfare systems partly functional, while their roads and bridges fell apart. All because of the way Martin slashed federal transfer payments. Every now and then Martin tosses a few pennies their way in order to bask in the glow of the CBC's admiration. That's your generous, caring, honest Liberal Quote "A liberal is someone who claims to be open to all points of view — and then is surprised and offended to find there are other points of view.” William F Buckley

Hicksey Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 But I liked Layton's performance tonight. I would call it a tie between Layton and Harper (err and eureka...surely you can appreciate my honesty). I don't know...he seemed too "VOTE NDP!" for me. He was like that in the last election. He kind of goes into these uncomfortable poses. He is like that Video Professor person on infomercials...too "Buy ME, BUY ME!" He reminds me of that also-ran kid of the group that's always yelling to the others "Hey guys, don't forget about me!" Wilber Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 Quote USA Liberal "sure thing my friend. US isn't a democracy, its a republic ! Canada is !" Cambridge republic noun [C] a country without a king or queen, usually governed by elected representatives of the people and a president: Webster republic 1 a (1) : a government having a chief of state who is not a monarch and who in modern times is usually a president. I'm sure all those people living in countries around the world without a monarch would be interested in knowing they don't live in a democracy.
