What Rights do women have in the United States? Are they still considered inferior to.men in any way by Congress? If so, WHY?

We see in recent legislation by the Republican Party to once again take away rights granted to women in the United States by previous Congresses. My question is Why have we let Congress even make these determinations for women at all? We don't subject men to the same limitations of rights or force them to get congressional approval before exercising their rights and freedoms. Should we change the Constitution to reflect modern 21st century thinking in the equality of the sexes in everything? I think it is a serious question we should consider.  We are no longer an isolated country, we are truly the Leader of the Free World, yet in multiple other countries women have more rights than our own.
