myata Posted June 15, 2023 Report Posted June 15, 2023 I understand climate change. I agree that it is a serious, possibly and likely, planetary problem for our civilization. You can't burn in a flash, minuscule moment all that was stored in millions of years and expect no major consequences. No, they'll be around little doubt. But an entrenched and entitled Liberal government is about the last instrument on the planet that can achieve anything positive here. Just look: Liberals were in power since 2015. They were talking about reductions since 1990s. Look again: 2005 - 2019 (four years in power, election reform long gone out of sight), zero progress. 2020, the pandemic year. 2021, beginning of the recovery, approximately 5% down from the pre-pandemic, but note that cryptic phrase: "The institute uses trends in energy efficiency and emissions reduction drivers, such as carbon pricing, to offset the estimate". Wait though: how do one f-cking "offsets" a physical number, weight with "pricing"? Is it a special voodoo reporting skill, honed and polished in the pandemic times? In 2022 the efforts began in earnest. Some winter months the carbon charge on our heating bill, a life necessity in this climate approached $100, plus the HST of course, a tax on a federal charge "service" and some good free cash for the government with no string attached. What has it done to the emissions? Has it reduced anything? Where is f-ing benefit that was supposed to offset it? Another Liberal money grab, for all the lofty chatting. Just another one. Reluctantly obvious. Quote If it's you or them, the truth is equidistant
