Uh these people do not make chips that are remotely cutting edge. These chips are slow and inefficient and good only for routine tasks.

They're an example.  C'mon don't make me explain the obvious. There's no chip so sophisticated they can't make it elsewhere.

You're not going to switch to another supplier of batteries when China's are cheap and plentiful and when they control the rare earths needed

They don't. They're doing most of the mining right now but in fact they're no where near the top of the list.

(and prices charged) to battery makers outside China. China controls 80% of the market for many solar panel components. Have 'other' sources popped up in the last twenty years? No, they're disappearing.

Again - not accurate. The chinese are growing fastest but lots of other countries produce them and if china was out of the market those countries would expand production. They're easy to make.

Hell, even our own country can't produce plywood - PLYWOOD - as cheaply as China!

Sure - china is cheap.  And if they weren't there we'd pay a little more but we'd still have plywood. But - they would have nothing.

They have a billion home grown consumers to support them.

And the vast majority are poor.  Sorry.  That's what happens when you pay those rock bottom wages that allow them to be cheap. Did you think they paid their workers nothing AND their workers had a lot of cash? Some do but most do not.

China's economy is successful because americans are wealthy in comparison and are willing to spend massive dollars buying things that the Chinese themselves really can't. China is totally dependent on the american consumer

But America and the western countries are NOT dependent on china. Losing china's manufacturing would sting for a short while and then they'd be fine.  But china could not replace the western consumer dollars it would lose.

There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data
