scribblet Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 CBC Radio One's national news announced on the 6 a.m. broadcast this morning that, if parliament fell, CBC would tonight be releasing the results of a poll it has commissioned. I'm not sure why the results would be only released in the event of the fall of Parliament, but it's something to watch out for. They're keeping it in under wraps for now. Wonder if this is the beginning of CBC trying to manipulate the election results. Quote Hey Ho - Ontario Liberals Have to Go - Fight Wynne - save our province

shoop Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 Seems kinda weird. I don't see the opposition changing their plans based on anything the CBC does. Maybe the CBC is trying to get the first 'scoop' of the election campaign. possibly, it may be the CBC trying not to influence events. we shall wait with bated breath to see. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Quote
plusgood Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 I'm pretty skeptical of all the poll results I'm seeing right now so it does not matter to me too much. Quote
shoop Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 There is a pretty common thread running through them. The Liberals baseline appears to be 32-34%, the CPC about 30%, the NDs about 15% and the Bloc looks like it is going to break the 60 seat barrier in Québec. There are enough undecideds out there that this is going to be a very interesting race. They're keeping it in under wraps for now. Most likely they don't have the results yet. If they commissioned a poll where the calls took place this weekend then the pollster would need time to compile the results. They spend every single day trying to prove with inane and manipulated statistics that Canada is completely different than the U.S. A few weeks ago they claimed that Americans don't know what date squares are (even though they are very popular in rural New England. Then they rambled on for about for awhile about how Americans pronounced "sorry" "sarry." Well, I have travelled extensively in Canada and the States and I can tell you that accents vary in different parts of both countries...it is never as simple as that. At a bar later that night there were two people who were Americans and a friend of mine from Manitoba. The Americans were from Oregon and sounded a lot like Canadians, whereas the Manitoba guy remarked "you guys sound more Canadian than me!!!" The CBC is just doing their fair and balanced pro-LIBERAL NDP journalism... Quote "Those who stand for nothing fall for anything." -Alexander Hamilton
shoop Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 Exactly. If you go to www.ctv.ca you see a story on the potential leak of information on the change to income trusts. Nothing on CBC, but there is an article titled "High-profile Liberal, NDP candidates step forward in Toronto." CBC we get it, you don't like the CPC. Can you at least *pretend* to be fair and balanced when operating with taxpayer's money. The CBC is just doing their fair and balanced pro-LIBERAL NDP journalism... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Quote

Biblio Bibuli Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 The CBC is just doing their fair and balanced pro-LIBERAL NDP journalism... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> All major governmental news stations that I know of are pro-centre, with an ever so slight left curve. And it does not matter to them how far left or right the existing government goes, they'll follow and still be "pro-government, with an ever so slight left curve." It's good for longevity, I hear. Now that Michael Ignatieff is looming large on the horizon I hope that CBC does a grand job in persuading the voters, because a Liberal minority this time around would be the quickest way to Michael Ignatieff's coronation. No more voter outcries such as ... "I hate Paul Martin and Stephen Harper. Unfortunately, there's not yet any better alternative on the horizon." We'll ALL like this one. I guarantee it!
