mooser745 Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 I just finished reading an article on Marilyn's death (this month's Playboy mag...which also has a great interview with Pacino and another good read on Super Bowl tix bookies.) I'm not an expert (although I admit to being a Forensic Files junkie), there were a few points that the article brought up that really make me wonder how it could have been classified as an "apparent suicide" and not further investigated as a murder. Though this might be fun to discuss...as I'm sure everyone has an opinion on theory. Feel free to add your thoughts: 1) Her house was completely bugged, under 24/7 surveillance from all sorts of people (FBI, CIA, Hoffa, etc.) So how could no one have heard, or even better, had a tape of what happened that night? 2) The autopsy report was compromised, with a majority of the substances reported "missing"...including that from her stomach (her death, they say, was caused from taking 30-40 pills...but how could that be confirmed without proper testing?) 3) She was planning to re-marry Joe DiMaggio (according to his niece), so the idea of killing herself (and not really leaving a note, or calling him) doesn’t seem to really make sense to me. crazymf Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 She was banging the president and he bumped her off. What's your problem?? Quote The trouble with the legal profession is that 98% of its members give the rest a bad name. Don't be humble - you're not that great. Golda Meir

crazymf Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 It's obvious why. While it is certainly possible that Marilyn died as a result of a bad choice mixture of pills and alcohol, her "accidental" death was perhaps too convenient. She was threatening to go public about her involvement with the Kennedy brothers. Then she suddenly dies, and the problem is solved. We believe it is reasonable to conjecture that someone other than Marilyn had a hand in her death. She had threatened to expose rich and powerful figures and may have paid the price with her life. And then Johnson bumped off Kennedy to become the president and Bobby got lonely and hired a killer to bump himself off so he could be with Bobby and start banging Marilyn too. It's easy. The facts are all there. Case solved. Quote The trouble with the legal profession is that 98% of its members give the rest a bad name. Don't be humble - you're not that great. Golda Meir
PocketRocket Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 Marilyn's enduring fame is partially a by-product of her death, be it suicide or whatever. In the same way that James Dean, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Buddy Holly et al have become legendary after their deaths. Monroe was fairly hot, for her time, but really nothing special in comparison to other screen sirens of her day. If she had gone on to grow old and ugly, like Liz Taylor, Bette Davis, Shelley Winters, and other "beauties" of by-gone years, the adoration surrounding her would probably have fizzled out a long time ago. As for how she died, there are always stories of cover-ups involving any death of a celebrity, be it a political or entertainment celebrity. Look at the far more recent controversy regarding the death of Curt Cobain. Same scenario. Star commits suicide, someone's suspicion is aroused, conspiracy theories pour forth from the popular press. If there is indeed any plot, it's simply a plot to sell more newspapers, books and tabloid rags. Quote I need another coffee
