cybercoma Posted September 14, 2005 Report Posted September 14, 2005 Uh, maybe because they are not the government. Jeez! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You've been touting that they controlled the budget, they're responsible for all these great things Canadians are getting, so what gear is it then? Quote
mirror Posted September 14, 2005 Author Report Posted September 14, 2005 So what have you done as a citizen? What are your proposals? Have you forwarded them on to your MPs? Have you dialogued with your MPs if you are that concerned? I agree pollution is a huge problem. Even out here in the Lower Mainland we have had some serious pollution recently because a large bog in the area caught on fire. One of the problems is that we are too spoiled. We demand goods from all over the world to feed our absurd consumer habits. What happened before we had access to all these foods for example that are not grown in Canada? We survived, we ate the local produce when it was in season, and we had cool storage areas so that they would last. Shipping them here contributes to pollution. Also we dismantled at lot of our rail system and moved everything to the roads. The trucks I agree create serious pollution. Whose brilliant idea was that? But when anybody suggests putting pollution controls on there is an uproar from the auto industry and the people who support them saying it is an infringement on personal freedom. Well nonsense. Vehicle fumes are starting to become like second hand smoke from cigarettes. And people say we don't need governments, eh! Quote
