From Ibbiton`s column today.

Back in 1995 "Provincial Conservative leader Mike Harris, according to conventional wisdom, had no chance of taking office. But his party's recipe of lower taxes and reduced welfare entitlements struck a chord, vaulting it from back of the pack to majority government in the June election.

Now fast-forward to the present. Cracks are once again beginning to show in the Ontario economy. The provincial government is in deficit; infrastructure is decaying; major industries face increasing challenges; the electricity sector is a disaster; and investment in tomorrow's economy -- through university funding, research and development and the like -- lags behind."

So bring on that election anytime you want PM Dithers. Time for ANY government other than a Liberal government.

In all the newspapers today Harper is calling for a review of NAFTA and increased trade with India and China if the United States continues screwing around with our agreements.

Any party but Harper's!!!!!

Wow, what a well thought out and considered response.

Your invaluable contribution to raising the level of debate is greatly appreciated.

I sense some sarcasm there shoop, but I nearly spit up on my computer screen when I read it! Good Job!

You know he/she's right. The 5 exclamation marks proves it!!!!! ;)

"Anybody who doesn't appreciate what America has done, and President Bush, let them go to hell!" -- Iraqi Betty Dawisha, after dropping her vote in the ballot box, wields The Cluebat™ to the anti-liberty crowd on Dec 13, 2005.

"Call me crazy, but I think they [iraqis] were happy with thier [sic] dumpy homes before the USA levelled so many of them" -- Gerryhatrick, Feb 3, 2006.

I'm sorry.....I didn't realise I had to be eloquent in expressing my distaste for Harper.

It's not a matter of a need for eloquence, but try staying on topic please. If you want just a mere Harper hate-in I am sure mirror and his ilk will surely join in on any other thread you want to start.

The repeated use of exclamation marks is a little weak though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quite an accurate statement actually as that certainly seems to be the consensus for the vast majority of Canadians.

As opposed to the New Democrats, with their PEAK support of 20% in the 1988 Federal election?

Do answer a question though mirror? Why is it that you whine like a biotch everytime somebody hijacks one of your threads, yet you are supporting this terrible little hijack of ndpnic'? Me thinks thou art a hypocrite.

Hijacking. Carjacking. Quick call CSIS. It must be one of those dirty extremists. Let's send him to Syria to get tortured, eh!

Seeing as this is about Harper let's discuss him. It must be quite discouraging for his Wild West fans that everytime the issue of Alberta's priorities come up it seems it gets hyjacked by Quebec separation issues. I mean I live in the West, but don't quite get why some folks out here would support a party like Harper's Tory party.

When is the next boundary revision commission? Perhaps Albertans could arrange a little gerrymandering so that they have 75 seats like Quebec.

Wow, what incredible wit. Are you trying to emulate The Comic Guy rhetorically now that you match him so much in physical appearace?

Running total of questions posed to Mirror unanswered ... 25!

Question 26. How many seats do you see the NDs winning in the next election? 15? 20?

I must have misread. I thought you were just complaining that this was a thread to discuss Harper. Talk about destroying one's own thread!

Question 27 where you able to find an environmentally conscious story that could supply you with trackpants able to hold your ample derriere?

Man, that will be painful seeing the NDs without party status with PM Harper in the house.

wow guys.

just wow.

<_<

I hear ya. But what can you do? Sometimes you gotta fight fire with fire.

Dealing with the fact that Harper is slowly making inroads in Ontario is anaethema to the likes of certain posters. So the personal attacks come out. Best to fight back I figure. Moral victories are for chumps!

As I said earlier every time I pick up a paper there seems to articles like this in it these days. The Globe likes to call themselves Canada national newspaper but I think they would be more accurately titled Canada's national Liberal newspaper. Has anybody been into the website of these Tory dissenters? If you have please post it so we could all see for ourselves. This kind of dissention is the last thing a leader needs going into battle, and possibly ana election although I don't think we will see one now until May-June, 2006. Maybe the Tories need to call a policy convention or something to take the focus away from all their internal party troubles.

Tories split over Harper

Conservative Leader Stephen Harper is presiding over a house divided, with some supporters leaping to his defence and other party members lining up behind those who have called for his resignation.
