Dear Argus

I'm sure you have probably posted it before and please just PM mail me the URL for your post if you know it, but I would like to know what is your rationale for encouraging Canada to explore a public-private heath care system. I mean where are the overall benefits for Canada and who loses compared to what we now have?

In other words what are the pros and cons to switch from our supposed single-tier publically funded heath care system?

Thanks.

There are also constant pressures in the US to spend more money, and there are constant pressures in Canada to lower taxes. It's just that the power structure in the US is better at ignoring the former, and the power structure in Canada is better at ignoring the latter.

Its a matter of degree Argus. The political discourse in Canada is far more weighted to spending and in America, its cutting taxes.

I didn't mean to get into a debate on which healthcare system. Rather, I was demonstrating that the healthcare system in America is a reflection of the will of the American people, not a failure of leadership.

As Toro has already pointed out this topic is a wild variation from the subject at hand. Suffice to say I have no ideological fixation on any system. I only care for what works. The sytems in Europe work. Ours does not. It's that simple.
