I wrote Ignatieff off years ago when he became an apologist for the excesses of Quebec nationalism. This is not newa and never surprised me.

Ignatieff is an ambitious, self-important climber. I would expect his intellectualism to fall on whayever sdie offered the ear of the mighty and benefit to himself.

The fact that Ignatieff is being talked about now dooms him to failure even if he does become leader because no human being can live up to the expectations that are placed on these so-called 'saviors'. The recent experience of Martin, Charest and Bouchard are cases in point. If the Liberals come up with with a leader capable of renewing the party it will have to be someone who is an unknown today like Bill Clinton was before he was nominated by the democrats.
