Just in time as a federal election nears. The Liberal Party's propaganda machine is back! :(

"Anybody who doesn't appreciate what America has done, and President Bush, let them go to hell!" -- Iraqi Betty Dawisha, after dropping her vote in the ballot box, wields The Cluebatâ„¢ to the anti-liberty crowd on Dec 13, 2005.

"Call me crazy, but I think they [iraqis] were happy with thier [sic] dumpy homes before the USA levelled so many of them" -- Gerryhatrick, Feb 3, 2006.

The CBC strike is over? I hadn't heard. I guess I'd have to watch the news on the CBC to find out, but since the CBC was on strike...well, you get the idea. Not like I care. I didn't miss a thing.

"And, representing the Slightly Silly Party, Mr. Kevin Phillips Bong."

I can't believe this morning's CBC radio news.

First, Pakistan earthquake kills people. Second, Guatamala mudslide kills people. Third, American gunships kill people.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, about a Iraqi referendum on a constitution.

The CBC International News is lousy. It invariably concerns disasters and death abroad, or cases of abject poverty and destitution. The CBC International News is an ad for "Save-the-Children-Fund". I am waiting for CBC International News about rich Malaysians buying Mercedes-Benz, or Finns worrying about their pension funds.

International News? Why does the CBC devote so much effort to international news when Canadians care so little about it? CBC News is the church circular about the work of missionaries abroad.

Were you listening to the 5 minute broadcast at the beginning of every hour or did you listen to the 6 o-clock news + as it happens? I did not get a chance to listen today but these news shows cover a much wider range of topics.

That said, I did hear coverage of the Iraq referendum on CBC radion today - just a note saying that counting was delayed and that it looks like the Sunnis did not get enough votes to block the constitution.

More importantly did you compare CBC to other media outlets? The Globe and Mail headlines today were about the same - I believe the National Post front page was similar. The commercial radio station that I also listen to considers the BC Lions to be the most signficant story today.

If someone has a vendetta against the CBC it is easy to find fault, however, one could find fault with virtually every other news source. CBC is annoying at times and I particularily dislike the national morning show 'the current', however, it is the only radio station in Canada that has any in depth news coverage - local or international which means it is doing something that the commerical marketplace is not willing to/cannot provide.

To fly a plane, you need both a left wing and a right wing.

I've heard, on CBC Radio, news of the Iraqi constitution, and the voting, for a few days now. Yesterday it was mentioned yet again.

I don't know which CBC Radio news show you're listening to, but if it is (as SPARHAWK suggested) the 5-minute-on-the-hour newscast, then all you get is the MOST VERY CURRENT news, and only a brief snippet of that.

Even on that short newsbreak, I heard something about the Iraqi constitution a couple days ago.

It was the 7 am news report on Monday morning.

That's my point. The CBC devotes much of its radio reports to international news (not local news) and then presents "disaster" international news.

I like the commercial-free aspect of the CBC but I disagree with their editorial policies. Their choice of news items is biased.
