Bakunin Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 translation:Canada day: Ottawa continues "to spoil" Quebec Alain Bouchard Sun Quebec Sponsorship scandal or not, Canada day continue "to very liberally sprinkle" Quebec in 2005. Even if quebec share was reduced compared to last year, the Belle Province receives more than half of the budget devoted to the federal celebrations, even if it constitutes only 24 % of the population of the country. The Minister Liza Frulla, granted 7,3 million $ for the organization of the Canada day this year. From this amount, 3,7 million $ will be spent in Quebec, compared to 5,2 million $ in 2004, points out the press attaché of Liza Frulla, Jean-François Deltorchio. Scandal This reduction of 29 % does not prevent the Bloc Québécois from continuing to point it out as a scandal "the liberal Party of Canada did not learn his lesson from the sponsorship scandal, declared yesterday to the SUN the deputy of Charlesbourg, Richard Marceau. After having filling the pockets of their friends, the liberal government persists in wanting to buy the conscience of the quebeckers. they continues to try to push federalism in quebeckers throat". It is such pointless... I read another article where they where talking about the canada day parade in montreal... the new organiser of the parade couldn't find any company to help sponsor canada's parade. They all didn't want to be linked with the new sponsorship ads symbol... Except two, the two federalist media in quebec, power corporation wich is linked with the liberal and the gazette. The funiest thing is what they do with this 3,7 millions ! alot of it goes to pay sovreignist music band to make music concert... They actually have to pay the big price to get sovreignist artist to play at the canada day when those artists come in big numbers to sings for free the 23-24th june for the quebec national holiday... It is not surprising that businesses would have misgivings given the gross over-reaction to the sponsorship scandal in Quebec. What people seem to have forgotten that there is nothing wrong with government advertising. Nor is there anything particularly wrong with spending federal money to counter the never ending stream of pro-sovereignty propaganda that comes from the PQ, BQ and a lot of the French language media. Remember the BQ MPs that refused to give out Canadian flags to veterans? This is but one example of how sovereigntists use the power of their political offices to promote sovereignty. Accusing the federal gov't of doing something wrong is pure hypocrisy. Quote To fly a plane, you need both a left wing and a right wing.
Bakunin Posted June 30, 2005 Author Report Posted June 30, 2005 What frustrate me is when ppl say quebec is pumping money out of canada when in reality that money isn't used for quebec interest, alot of that money is used for stupid propaganda. The sponsorhip scandal was another sample... They also bought big canada flags specially for 21june to 1july insalled on federal buildings... The more we see that flag, the more it remember us of the sponsorship scandal... Also the fact that those flag are up the 24june is an act of provocation or a lack of respect for many... Canada could use that money somewhere else... They could use it to pay back the federal debt. A sample, of well spent money: Quebec is announcing a big investment of 3 billions for clean wind power elecricity. This will create 4000 construction jobs, 800 permanent jobs and 3000 MW of aditionnal electricity in one of the poorest region of quebec. Quote
