bigdude Posted June 11, 2005 Report Posted June 11, 2005 MacKay says Tuesday votes may force election I know he must be despndent about losing his main squeeze to the Liberals but is MacKay that depressed that he has a death wish? All signs at the moment point to a disaster for the Cons if we were to have an election any time soon, and yet here we have this poor fellow suggesting the government could fall. As a matter of fact things are so bad for the Cons that there is a good likelyhood that MacKay will lose his own seat in the next election. Quote
The Terrible Sweal Posted June 11, 2005 Report Posted June 11, 2005 MacKay wants an election so Firewall Harper can lose and move on, making room for himself. (But for MacKay to imagine his political career has any more upside, is a complete pipedream, mind you.) Quote
willy Posted June 11, 2005 Report Posted June 11, 2005 I am pretty sure the Conservatives don't want an election. I think Mr. MacKay was concerned with the confidence vote because the Liberals may want one. If they have a number of people not make the vote Tuesday, they will try and pin it on the Tories and it is clear the Tories and Block will not vote for this money bill. TTS can you grow up a little and just state your point or I get this erg to use Dithers and Wacky in front of the other leaders’ names and we don't need that. Quote

Dithers and Wacko are someone else's terms of abuse. But Harper personally and deliberatly signed on to the "firewall" thing. Is it something to be ashamed of now? Would it be bad to call Trudeau "Mr Charter"? Quote

I personally hope they bring down the government then we can get back to a majority liberal government and get this country on the right track. Quote

This forum, and I include myself here, would be a lot more productive if we focused on the issues rather than using putdowns or derogatory descriptions of people or political parties we oppose. Quote

Willy's point (and I include yours too) would be better applied in a thread where that sort of thing went on, rather than here, where it didn't. Quote
THELIBERAL Posted June 14, 2005 Report Posted June 14, 2005 RE::They're like a toothless lion trying to frighten the liberals with their roar. I personally hope they bring down the government then we can get back to a majority liberal government and get this country on the right track. The way things are going I predict 157 to 160 seats for the Liberals in the next election whenever that will be. Peter MacKay had his personal political death wish answered when he back stabbed David Orchard!!! Peter MacKay ended his hopes of a political career as leader when he did that! Now every time I hear Peter talk about honesty and integrity (which the Conservatives love to do) WELL I burst out laughing!!! Quote
