jaybee Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 Hello, My name is Jay and I am a Huge trekkie here I am so sad about the demise of the show it makes me more upset that it has become controversial but I think you can start to look back and see what made the show special to begin with from now on. Has anyone checked out this site upn.com/shows/enterprise/fan_favorites/ You can win stuff if you enter right away too. What is your fave show? Quote
PocketRocket Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 Hey, Jay, welcome aboard. Which show were you the fan of ??? Next Gen?? DS-9?? Enterprise??? Voyager??? Hard to tell from your post. I used to be into the Trek thing in a fairly big way, but not as a really devoted fan or anything. About a year ago, a friend lent to me all five seasons of Babylon5 on DVD. Being a bit of a science buff, I found this show a lot more true to established science as we know it. I also found it to be a lot grittier, and the characters were more 3-dimensional. If you haven't checked it out yet, I suggest you do. Great series. Possibly the best sci-fi series to date. Quote I need another coffee
The Terrible Sweal Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 Correction, Pocketrocket: THE best science fiction series is FARSCAPE, hands down. Quote
PocketRocket Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 T.T.S.: Thanks for the info. I haven't seen Farscape. I'll look for it. Quote I need another coffee
kimmy Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 I think Farscape kind of "jumped the shark" when they arrived at Earth. It was a great program, though. I'm quite enjoying the new Battlestar Galactica show! -kimmy Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
Tawasakm Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 I thoroughly enjoyed Farscape - at least that which I managed to catch. I also find the remake of Battlestar Galactica to be a good view. If you want to count Futurama as sci fi thats gotta count also On the topic of sci fi series my brother recently told me that the BBC is now producing new episodes of Dr Who oriented toward a more adult audience. That could also be quite interesting. Quote
Charmingly Straight Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 I like Star Trek, but I'm not a fanatic. Quote

That could also be quite interesting. It appears that CBC has picked this up in Canada. If that's the case, it's a clear signal that they're trying to break into the key "Under 65" viewer demographic that they've been shut out of in recent years. -kimmy Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
Newfie Canadian Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 Star Trek TOS was the best. "The Trouble with Tribbles" was the best show, not"City on the Edge of Forever". Stargate Sg1 is arguably the best sci-fi out there, and the spin off Atlantis is doing well. The new BG is great. I wasn't a fan of the original, but the new series has it all, good sfx, drama, humour and plots.
