Choke Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 I voted in the last federal election based on a few pretty insignificant criteria, gun control (don't want it) and gay marriage (don't want it either), so I voted Conservative. I saw very little difference on other issues between Liberals and Conservatives...so I decided based on those trivial things. Quote

Choke Posted November 29, 2004 Author Report Posted November 29, 2004 Because I don't see meaningful differences between the big two parties? If I'd thought a party that stood for something genuinely different, even the NDP, could have won my riding and that it wasn't going to be an exclusively CPC-Liberal race, I may have voted for someone else. In fact in hindsight, I would've voted NDP. Quote
August1991 Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Before buying a car, a house, or even a TV, people typically spend days researching the market and deciding what purchase is best. The average working adult Canadian will pay about $6000 in federal tax this year. Most Canadians spend almost no time researching the political parties or deciding how best to vote. Many people don't even bother to vote. Imagine a purchase of $6000 that you would make with so little thought and so little research as what you "buy" with your taxes. And some people have the nerve to say that government is more "democratic" than transnational corporations. Quote
Choke Posted November 30, 2004 Author Report Posted November 30, 2004 I researched, and here's what I found: -The CPC is made up of free-market liberals -The LPC is made up of free-market liberals and some NDP refugees Quote
