Big Guy Posted May 16, 2016 Report Posted May 16, 2016 Matthew de Grood, the man accused in the deaths of five Calgary students, has pleaded not guilty to five counts of first-degree murder. However, he admitted in an agreed statement of facts that he stabbed five young people to death at a house party. De Grood, 24, is charged with five counts of first-degree murder. His trial started on Monday, more than two years after a fatal stabbing attack broke out during a house party in April, 2014. Matthews lawyer is obviously pleading that he was not of sound mind when he sliced up these people. http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/de-grood-pleads-not-guilty-to-all-five-counts-of-first-degree-murder-1.2903507 When police arrived and arrested de Grood, he told officers that he was trying to kill the victims before they killed him. He also said that he was an alien and was born in an incubator, and he believed he was killing Medusas and werewolves for the son of God. These victims were all friends of the accused and he had no history of any criminal behavior. Why even have a trial? We know he will be put into an asylum to be released if/when he is no longer sick. Why waste the time and trouble for a trial? Quote Note - For those expecting a response from Big Guy: I generally do not read or respond to posts longer then 300 words nor to parsed comments.
overthere Posted May 16, 2016 Report Posted May 16, 2016 Why waste the time and trouble for a trial? because a trial can result in a finding of criminal insanity and he can be sentenced to an indefintie term while being held in a facility for the criminally insane. I don't think a term amongst the regular nuts can accomplish that. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!
