Big Guy Posted April 13, 2016 Report Posted April 13, 2016 The biggest fish plant and one of the largest employers in Newfoundland has burned down: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/newfoundland-labrador/bay-de-verde-fire-homes-damaged-by-smoke-1.3530490 The Quinlan Brothers (the owners) promised to rebuild 'bigger and better than ever' in Bay de Verde. It had employed about 700 workers (about 50 from Thailand). I have no doubt that the plant will be rebuilt. I also have no doubt that the provincial and federal governments will assist financially in the rebuild in order to "save jobs". And I have really no doubt that this new plant will be a sanitary, state of the art, computerized, robotized, assembly line process which will only need about 100 people to operate (most of them from Thailand).
