nerve Posted October 18, 2015 Report Posted October 18, 2015 (edited) I am minarchist - although I can't say I support everything about the Libertarian Party of Canada, ideologically it does share many of my views. The issue is that personal liberty and what is needed for Canada may not line up due to treaties and other considerations. I don't think the libertarian party really has much support, which is unfortunate. It would be great to see a reduction in the reach of government. I really hate the idea of a nanny state, there is way too much legislation, and way too much government encroachment on peoples private lives. It is hyperlegislation and "creep" that is the longer there is government the more they will spend their time trying to find ways to control the people. You know a few kids die so they outlaw toys, that kind of thing. Instead of educating parents to watch their kids and make smart parenting decisions the government plays the role of parent. Its really disgusting, but a sad fact that will not soon go away. I don't vote for parties thought as I am well aware of infilatration and establishment of other groups to exert control of the movement such as has been done by the CIA for instance in the Austrailian labour movement, or even CSIS/National Security in the protest movement in Canada. There are agent actors at play in the nominal groups so it is all about the people imo, none the less what I see in the libertarian party is some good. Freedom is not a bad thing. I have to say though I really don't agree with their platform. It seems more motivated than really libertarian, there is no logic to the $4000 stuff, but I havn't analyzed their budget, personally I think that the tax line should be moved with the poverty line - taxing people in poverty is just plain wrong who cares if they are disabled, old or just poor, its about about being in poverty. As for tax amounts, I think that it should all be subscription based, whereby the tax amount is set at what is required to fund -essential services. So there is no how much do we have to spend--- -it should be how much is needed, then from that we determine what tax rate is needed on people with income as an aspect of the whole pot. The client state is just a waste of tax dollars, but its the system, it ain't changing overnight. Edited October 18, 2015 by nerve Quote
