On Guard for Thee Posted June 13, 2015 Report Posted June 13, 2015 . Well let's stop calling the oil market a declining market, and call it what it really is. The oil market is more competitive today then it once was when the price of a barrel was over 100$ Due to our energy independence policy. That means we achieved what we set out to do with our policy. The natural reaction should be to be happy our policy worked. The world now enjoys lower oil costs as a result of out oil energy independence policy. Rejoice!!! Success!!!! And the shareholders will pull their money out as they see the writing on the wall, and move into renewables. Now there is something to rejoice. Quote

Why would we pay 300$ electricity bills with renewable energy when anyone can buy a gas generator and make their own electricity cheaper? Ya I know this is hard stuff to understand. Quote

cybercoma Posted June 13, 2015 Report Posted June 13, 2015 North America set out to achieve oil energy independence. It was in a whole bunch of Obama speeches. "Energy Independence for America". The moment the Saudi's stopped pumping at a slow rate, that goal was achieved. Today's outcome is a victory for North America energy independence policy. Difficult to understand I know. Ok and when do you get to the point that says the price of oil isn't down? Quote

Freddy Posted June 13, 2015 Report Posted June 13, 2015 (edited) Ok and when do you get to the point that says the price of oil isn't down? It is down due to higher competition, Rather then from lack of demand. Two very different situations, That can have a similar result. But let's not confuse the two please.Saying a market is in decline because it's more competitive is funny. But most people don't have the intellectual prowess to understand the complicated world of supply and demand. The ability to see the bigger picture is only given to a small percentage of humans. Mostly because the majority can't put their own biased ideology aside. Look at on guard for thee as a example. He is so stuck in his environmental biased ideology, he is actually contemplating turning the earth into a giant Death Star and is looking forward to it. He, like the majority of humanity lacks vision. Most ordinary people do. Edited June 13, 2015 by Freddy Quote

Its referred to as the closed carbon cycle. Our breath does not add carbon to the system, or other more noxious gases, that your car does. Quote

Im sure we can work out the problems with it much easier than we can all the pollution we produce from fossils. Quote

Yea , I remember Ethinol was going to save the day. And then we found out we would use up all our agricultural land to grow stuff to make it, causing food prices to skyrocket. I'm looking forward to finding out all the unforeseen challenges of solar panelling the earth. Quote

Inhale a little of that smoke and get back to us. One thing is for sure, the coal mines and the oil wells will deplete long before the sun will go down for the last time. Quote

One thing is for sure, the coal mines and the oil wells will deplete long before the sun will go down for the last time. Let's be realistic. Look at how much solar energy make up our energy pie here in Ontario. Have you been to a solar farm? I've been a part of building one. It's thousands and thousands of acres of land. It never ends. And it results in hardly a drop in the bucket of our energy supply pie. Real Estate is not a unlimited resources. Quote
Freddy Posted June 13, 2015 Report Posted June 13, 2015 (edited) What about the rare earth molecules needed to make the panels? Are they unlimited? There is so much we haven't thought through. Edited June 13, 2015 by Freddy Quote
On Guard for Thee Posted June 13, 2015 Report Posted June 13, 2015 What about the rare earth molecules needed to make the panels? Are they unlimited? When you suck a barrel of oil out of the ground, you refine it, burn it, and its gone, (well except for the pollution left behind) you make a solar panel and you use it everyday, and it doesn't bugger up your lungs. Cant make it much simpler. Quote

We will need to solar panel the whole entire world to generate enough energy. I'm looking forward to making the earth look like the Death Star. It's going to be so good for the environment. Quote

I find it weird that you flew jets around the world polluting the Earth like crazy but now that you're done with your career and retired you can now turn around and say that we better stop doing that. Seems a little hypocritical to me. I'm not attacking you or trolling or anything. I'm just curious about where you're coming from since you've spent your adult life polluting the Earth in a way and at a rate that most of us could never do. If that's not you please disregard. On the main point, oil isn't going away any time soon but we definitely should be investing in alternative fuel sources and perfecting them for when the time comes when the oil is gone. We're not at the point where we can give up our reliance on oil just yet. I think the technology is seriously about 50 years away until we can seriously each have our own power plants at our houses and have our cars run off water or hydrogen or electricity. Quote
Freddy Posted June 13, 2015 Report Posted June 13, 2015 Once were done building the Death Star, We can all sit at home and enjoy the electricity, we don't have a job to afford to pay. That will be so great. I'm looking forward to that . Quote

I fully admit I have a seriously large carbon footprint based on my job. Truth to tell, when I started out many years ago, it really wasnt a topic of discussion that I was aware of. And I hasten to add I am not wishing to kill an industry to see a lot of people out of work. I am now aware that we should suset the fossil fuel biz sooner rather than later and I can see ways company's that currently employ people extracting those fossil fuels, could transition into producing renewables. I will bet you that the likes of Exxon Mobil have invested heavily into how to make that transition, as we speak. Quote
