Two soldiers killed withjn a week. Over 100 Canadians going to fight with isis. That sure seems kike a rise to me. So whats the sokution?

I have to agree. What does teaching hate have to do with this?

ISIS is using hate brainwash to recruit why would we do that to our kids?

Are we not better than that?

Looks like a good learning tool. How is this even an argument?

We have something like 2 million Muslims in Canada. Muslims are fastest growing ethnic group in Canada. The population roughly doubles every 10 years. If only 1% of those become Radicalized that would be 20,000 Radical Muslims in Canada. I see that as a huge problem. It's important we look ahead. Look beyond your own nose if you will to see what potential problems are coming around the bend. Not just whats happening now.

I truly believe that you guys really mean well on this forum and I too want to be nice to everyone and include everyone in Canada. But the truth is that some people come here seeking to change Canada from what it has become today. The change they wish to bring to Canada may not be something that everyone wants. I don't think many if any here would like to live in Canada under Muslim rule. Would Canadians oppose such rule? I doubt it because they are too worried about offending someone. Sad.

Why deal with education, economic or health issues when we have religious problems? Why discuss anything else at all? We can obviously only deal with one issue or think about one topic at a time right? There are threads dedicated to ISIS no need to hijack this one.

I look forward to reading about your views in the coming posts.

Project based learning (PBL) should absolutely be used as much as is feasibly possible. When students participate in hands on projects based around real world problems, their learning is enhanced in numerous ways. First of all, classroom knowledge often comes in the form of theoretical factoids meant to be recalled at a later time. With PBL knowledge is attained in real time, as needed to solve actual problems. Projects in general are also far more engaging than class based lessons, but when designed around real world problems they have the added bonus of building initiative and civic engagement. Teaching students that they can personally make a difference, at a young age, is important as it fights that debilitating idea that problems are meant for experts or governments or others to solve.

Of course gaps in the learning must still be filled back in the classroom, but these projects provide a real framework with which to hang learning for multiple subjects. To be retained and sufficiently understood, knowledge must be incorporated into our own personal scaffold that has been built by our experiences throughout our lives. Youth have less real experience and knowledge to refer back to, hence big projects like the ones shown in the OP help immensely by providing those visceral, kinesthetic learning situations.

Ok fine.

So what is the solution?

Close the borders?

Tap their phones?

Assume everyone is guilty and lock them all up in interment camps?

I think your 1% is high but I will not hang the other 99% assuming they are guilty.

Discuss this in one of the dedicated threads.
