Poor politician is the reason that we have poor services.
Long waiting time for doctors; no new subway lines for decades in Toronto while population grows rapidly; poor education. Politicians ask for more tax dollars, other than that, what they can do is only attack each other, such as attacking Ford, who seems wanted to do something without raising tax.
But why China can build so many high speed railways in several years, and express roads? Why Beijing, Shanghai can build so many subway lines in several years? Why in China, people older than 70 need not to pay bus ticket inside their own cities?
It is not so much related with money, it is the attitude that mater. That is why British Education minister Elizabeth Truss travel to Shanghai to learn how to do it.

The minister, who will be joined by a number of headteachers on the China trip, is due to visit three schools and teacher training centres during her visit, the Department for Education (DfE) said.

In the UK, the children of parents with a “professional” job - such as doctor or lawyer - scored 525.94 points on average in the PISA maths test.

In Shanghai, China, the sons and daughters of parents with “elementary” occupations - such as cleaners and catering assistants - scored 568.9 points on average. In Singapore, this group scored 533.58 points.

I think poor service is a result of excellent politicians. If the politicians weren't excellent then how would they be able to convince us to vote for them after such poor service ?

A politician get vote more than another one, not because he/she is good, just because no suitable candidate can be found, because most people have no way, no channel to find a suitable person that can and willing to do work if there exist.

If not for politicians, why poor managers can stay on the positions spend waste billions dollars in eHealth systems, power plant relocations and other projects?
