August1991 Posted November 1, 2013 Report Posted November 1, 2013 Many Westerners nowadays intend to have no children, or simply don't have children. So, westerners don't pass on children. Yet, many Westerners (typically Leftists) want to teach, nurture children or ensure the State does this. They want to raise good children, and civilize them, even if these children come from other parents. These Westerners want to pass on their knowledge to others. Some Westerners adopt children abroad, while other Westerners become teachers abroad. Some Westerners accept lower salaries for this task of teaching. For them, like the priesthood, it is a "calling". Few, if any, Africans or Asians do this. If Africans or Asians become teachers, it is to teach in the West for a good salary (compared to the alternative). How many Africans/Asians return home to teach? Once in the West, they raise their children to do tasks other than teaching. If non-Westerners adopt, it is within the family. Is Western civilization sustainable if we have no children, and if we are only prepared to pass on our values as a charity, on our terms? Quote
Peter F Posted November 1, 2013 Report Posted November 1, 2013 Why the need to sustain Western civilization? What conscious effort has Western civilization ever made to sustain itself? Quote A bayonet is a tool with a worker at both ends

Just how many Asians or Africans can fill the non-existent positions for teaching English in the West? Im thinking....none. YMMV Quote
August1991 Posted November 2, 2013 Author Report Posted November 2, 2013 (edited) Why the need to sustain Western civilization?Good question. According to some Westerners, the world would be a "better place" if cockroaches and other insects did not have to face humans. What conscious effort has Western civilization ever made to sustain itself?Good question, but much easier than your first. Western civilization adapts. It changes. YMMV In our modern world, some Africans take risks, even die, to come to the West. And some Westerners take risks, even die, going to Africa. But an African/Asian going to America is different from an American going to Africa/Asia. Quote
Jimmy Wilson Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 I generally pass on spinach... Quote "Neo-conservativism,I think,is really the aggrandizement of selfishness. It's about me,only me,and after that,me.It's about only investing in things that produce a huge profit for yourself. It's NOT about society as a whole and it tends to be very insensitive to those people, who for one reason or another, have fallen beneath the poverty line and it's engaged in presumptions that these people are all poor because they are lazy.Neo-conservatives believe that fundamentally..."
