Actually, much of what Justin says, shows that he will be chewed up very fast if he wins the leadership?

If there was a book about "How the liberal party died" Justin will write it!

Don't know how old you are but I remember an election his father ran where he was dubbed 'the invisible man'. He didn't offer any policy, made few appearances, stayed as far away from the media as he could get, and still beat Joe Clark to get re-elected. The whole election, as far as I can remember, was on "I'm not Joe Clark".

That won't work with Harper. But the article that WWTT cites actually says Justin is being smart and it's not his Kim Campbell moment. Trudeau is also building a large war chest to counter the attack ads that will come from the CPC as soon as he's elected leader. He seems to be a very good organzier, and may have more political smarts than people give him credit for. Still elections are lost by governments, not won by the opposition.

Guess he means people will be depressed. I think Trudeau will only get in if things are going either really badly or really well. If the latter, people will feel cocky and want somebody with a new image and hope. If the former, then Harper gets blamed. If they go along like right now, I think people will go for the bird in the hand.

Perhaps, but then again 2015 is a long ways off for Steve....and just around the corner for Justin. Harper has everything to lose, Trudeau nothing. The way things are right now, Harper has tied hands and Trudeau has a free ride.

That aside, this is no mean feat for Trudeau, it isn't considered a walk in the park. The Liberal Party has no space set aside for it in the free media of political coverage. Trudeau does.... Every time Harper wants to open his mouth its going to cost a lot of money and the end result will be giving Trudeau a free media ride. That will have consequences, none of them good for Harper. It has already started and Trudeau is only a backbench of no consequence third party wanna be. How much is Harper going to spend on discrediting Trudeau over the next couple of years? Its a good thing for Harper that his Conservative Party has deep pockets. Hey Steve! Guess what ? Justin has gathered up a little cash too! Lets go spend some public tax dollars and have a media war....one that Trudeau will not have to fund at all.

Between the next election and now, many things will likely transpire. The EU and the Euro, China and Russia trade deals externally, the F35 issues, First Nations, rising national debt, crippling interest projections, CPP benefit crunch as millions of baby boomers come online. All that for sure with who knows what else, the government spending more than it has and planning even greater debt. Meanwhile Justin Trudeau having no political weight in government will put forth a current Liberal Party policy that increases revenues and reduces current projected expenses. Trudeau and the Liberals will be attempting to rebrand themselves at both government and opposition expense, and I predict that the public will support Trudeau, not Harper because of it.

The Liberals had an easy time when the Conservatives and Reform were splitting the vote. Then with the "merger" the Liberals lost the center-left split to the NDP. I wonder if there are now enough right-centers upset with the Conservatives and left-centers upset with the NDP that the Liberals may be back. It will be interesting.

I am again quite disturbed. Ignatief was probably a smart guy but was lacking in the charisma department. Justin has that in spades. And that unfortunately is a big deal in elections today.

You must have a real Google problem. Section 1 is economic plans if you want other policy you should read the rest of it.

http://xfer.ndp.ca/2012/2012-12-17-Email-Convention/Mtl2013_PolicyBook_E.pdf

Liberals its always the NDP's fault that they are guided by a rudderless boat with no policy and no plans. Thats what stung you last election.

BTW here the Mulcair document which we handed out during the leadership run just so you know he was talking about economic policy during the leadership run.

http://www.thomasmulcair.ca/site/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Jobs-and-the-Economy.pdf

I get that Liberals don't care about policy and want to pretend that NDP have the same problem but its like the old saying goes:

"You go to the Conservative convention to get laid, you go the Liberal one to get drunk and you go the NDP convention to talk politics"

Sometimes we talk policy to death and the debates hurt us but by god we debate policy to death in our party.

So you just gave what the NDPs economic policies are, which frankly are idiotic. Trudeau has said he wants to work with the party to develop policy, which according to you is what the NDP do. Yet you socialists are criticizing him for what you praise your party for.

Interesting that you talk about going to the Conservative convention to get laid. I'd rather go there than a shady massage parlour.

I also linked to Mulcair's pre-leadership win policy info as well. You know because you want to know what people believe in before you vote for them, blind voting is what Liberals do I guess because leadership races aren't times to talk about what leaders believe?

Trudeau has similar BS on his website. Someone should be able to tell and show Canadians what kind of leader they will be, without getting into specific policies.

Yes that is what Liberals believe. You can know what someones ideas are by their hair and "Just watch me". It takes a little more the NDP I guess we are more cynical believing in order to understand how leaders will lead they have to answer questions on that leadership.
