TimG Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 oh really...then it's a real mystery why riverside, lakeside, ocean view properties command considerably higher prices than homes just across the street...in calgary real estate dollars a home with a view can easily add 100K to the price of a home vs one across the street with no view..lake view and ocean view are a different issue. You are claiming that people buy properties on the banks of flood prone rivers for the 'view'. I say nonsense.no tsunami could threaten the west coast that's not plausible, except it did in 1700 when an earthquake sent an enormous tidal wave right across the pacfic and caused devastation in japan and far inland on the North american west coast.I realize that proper risk analysis requires the ability to think which make present a challenge for you, however, the geography of the west coast means Vancouver Island shields the Lower Mainland from tsunamis. I linked to a study that could find no evidence of a tsunami in the Fraser Valley for 4000 years yet you want to insist that there is a risk. At this point you are simply making crap up. Quote

I would not be so quick to dismiss the concerns of risk that wyly is raising here. When people get too overconfident,it sets us up for real disaster! WWWTT Quote Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! Down over $1,500 in less than one year! Total fail of the moderation on this site! That reminds me, never ask Greg to be a business partner! NEVER!

After is all it is possible - not very plausible but possible. How about the yellow super volcano? Perhaps we should evacuate north america because it is irresponsible for people to live in a place subject to destruction by a known volcano? Edited November 2, 2012 by TimG Quote
