MiddleClassCentrist Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 (edited) http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/story/2012/09/17/pol-duelling-fact-checks-carbon-tax-senate.html Conservatives promised cap and trade in 2008"We will work with the provinces and territories and our NAFTA trading partners in the United States and Mexico, at both the national and state levels, to develop and implement a North America-wide cap and trade system for greenhouse gases and air pollution, with implementation to occur between 2012 and 2015," the Conservative Party's platform said. Conservative MPs maintain that NDP Leader Tom Mulcair wants to introduce a carbon tax in Canada. Both the Conservatives and the NDP proposed a cap-and-trade system during the 2008 campaign — an idea the Tories have since abandoned. OK.. So... Mulcair is keeping on with a sensible idea, "The Polluter Pays" to destroy our air quality. And apparently that's a tax? What? Is paying someone to harvest their logs a tax? or the cost of producing a product? Is paying someone to use our Oxygen a tax? or the cost of producing a product? Edited September 17, 2012 by MiddleClassCentrist Quote Ideology does not make good policy. Good policy comes from an analysis of options, comparison of options and selection of one option that works best in the current situation. This option is often a compromise between ideologies.
